i would like to paint the inside of my case and the back and anything else aluminum to a flat black... the outside of my case is a high glossy finish and i want to paint all the aluminum inside... i dont need any instructions just some personal opinions and any minor pointers if u have any...

will it be hotter in my case since its black?
will it reduce the nice blue cathode lighting affect?
and this is where the personal opinion part comes in.. will it look good inside my case? you can view my case gallery to see....

and is flat black the way to go? remember i work at Ace Hardware and can easily get all the supplies i need for it

The flat black could dull the cathodes, but if you went glossy black, then you would get a nice reflective surface wink.gif

Gloss would help reflect the light, but really matte paint wouldn't hold them back much.

Go for it!!

i was looking at some Satin black Rust Stop paint at ace... im liking Satin... its right in the middle.. i think it should fit my case pretty well...

I just did this to my case, and I really like it. I think it makes the inside look a lot cleaner. As far as heat, I strongly doubt it'll make any difference at all. This is how mine looks. I didn't primer or sand or anything because I was too excited to put the winchester in it smile.gif

I personally think flat looks better, but gloss should make the ccfls look better. Either way, I think it's better than aluminum.

thats nice man.. does it have a texture to it? looks like it

It is a well known fact that a black surface will absorb heat more readily than a lighter shade/colour, as for how your case will dispell that build up of heat primarily depends on airflow dynamics wink.gif

As has already been stated, a matt black finish WILL alter the way light behaves in your cases' environment, but you also need to consider that while a sheen finish will clean up nicely (dust etc.) a matt finish will almost always look dirty (r/t how dirt particles enter non-sheen paint surface) is semi-gloss an option? dry.gif

Good luck all the same! biggrin.gif

EDIT: Nice finish Verran! obviously what you call 'flat' we call semi-gloss laugh.gif

ya i can get semigloss... anyone got any pics of a semigloss finish inside a case? particuarly black..

Textured. Yeah, that's it! Exactly as intended.... tongue.gif

Actually, what you're seeing there (most likely) is where I didn't get a good spray angle and it's still partly aluminum. smile.gif I sprayed it while it was standing up like it normally would, and those are spots that are pretty tough to paint from that angle.

Didn't mean to steal the thunder on this one, but thanks smile.gif I'm very happy with it. As far as the flat/semi-gloss, I'm going to have to plead ignorance on that one. The can said flat, and that's what I wanted tongue.gif I honestly was as far from picky as I could be. I was much more concerned with it being not silver smile.gif

i was looking at spray-paint and looked at fluroescent green and was like...UV GLOWING!... i got carried away! lol tongue.gif imagine the whole inside of ur case... blink.gif

Maximum PC has a nice tut on painting in this month's magazine....

If you go UV then flat is good, cause it'll eat up all reflects anything makes. And if you paint UV reactive, it'll be like you paint with light. I dont remember who did his case that way but it looked AWsome tongue.gif

1. black paint absorbs light more than white or other light colors and basically converts it into heat... if there is light around it, it will get a little hotter...

2. as said in my first answer, black paint will absorb light more than other light colors so yes, it will reduce the glow produced by reflection a bit... if the cathode produces blue light then it is no good. If the cathode produces UV, then it will pull the purple light that spills over into the visible spectrum better and let the UV shine through a little better...

3. yes it will look good in your case though I would recommend getting a little glossy with it wink.gif

Then go with your first idea of flat black, you wont regret it wink.gif

not to break away from the point. but a kool idea might be to do is: you guys know what rhino lining that people spray in their truck beds, well that would be pretty kool to do a case in that stuff too. wouldn't get any scratches and would be a pretty tough case.

I did mine black{gloss}bout 6months back....Didnt notice any change in temp though.
