Right... heres the situation, in my server I have a 300watt HEC power supply, I also have a 550watt Q-Tec spare, I know the Q-Tec 550 watt isn't 550, but i'm hoping it'll be a little quieter as the psu fan is the only thing making a noise in the server, thing is though, i've also read some nasty storys about Q-Tec's and having a habbit of going pop..... Anyone know what the reliability on them is like? unsure.gif

Thanks tongue.gif

Never heard of Q-tec and i know most all unknown psu's lol but i know HEC is made by antec and if your hec makes a little noise just change the fan or change it for a higer wattage if budget permitt i'd go with the antec true control 550 you can even tweak the voltage with the front pannel plate smile.gif

Apologies for posting in the wrong forum, theres so many of them and I never got to bed... lol, anyway... this PSU is only for an xp1900 server with 1 hard drive and 1 cd-rom, my main machine has a 560watt thermaltake biggrin.gif

But good idea on the fan change.... guess it shows how tired I am sad.gif

*Edit, just remembered why the Q-Tec would be quieter, it uses 2 lower RPM fans the HEC uses 1 fan *
