hmm,, i wonder if u had surround sound with a subwoofer.. u could duct from the ports to your case like the back where the pci expansion slots are... thatd be a nice way to cool ur case just play some loud techno bass songs and u got cooling smile.gif

(i doubt anyone would ever do that tho) but subs push more cfm than any fans probably could
martymcfly
i doubt they can push more cfm than fans
HoLoDreaM
well with my sub and my bass songs i have its shoving air thru here.. my feet are so cold from this air lol tongue.gif
Compxpert
Sounds like it could hurt ure comp with the vibration and all.
HoLoDreaM
if u had the sub under ur desk and took some dryer vent hose or something and hooked it up to the back... i wonder how itd do.. anyone wanna try?
Shaggy

LOL!
safety first eh?!

yeah id rather enjoy my sub with its bassful...bass lol rather then have it used for cooling lol, and i dont want to turn it up all the way and blow it, is that what your doing?
Pent uP Rage
I wouldn't suggest that. If it's hitting hard enough to make your feet cold, it's hard enough to possibly REALLY mess something up.
The_WRATH
yeah! like blowing the sub! lol
Silverfox
yeah the cfm from a sub is......not much.

you'd need some ultr-fast bass pulse to move air. all it would do is disturb dust and make your components vibrate.
Uber
lol i cant blow my sub..... as it has a much higher wattage than what my amp is supplying, it also has the power to vibrate things allover my house tongue.gif
Silenc3
Subs Just move air back and forth, your air wouldnt really be going anywhere as it pulses.
red930
it would actually create resonance inside the case and could cause some of your hardware to be damaged and not perform correctly
suchuwato
erm, it it just me or have none of you noticed it would suck the hot air back in.. wink.gif

The_WRATH
well all that trouble JUST to cool the case, come on, there are easier...and quieter...ways of doing that lol

subs are usually killed by distortion, not wattage. and its just not worth bothering with

Fireonice
i dont think that idea would work very welll at all.....
HoLoDreaM
ya know thats why the post is called Funny Idea.. its not meant to be serious
The_WRATH
i take every single thread seriously

LOL!!!!

Yes...for every bit of air your sub pulls out, it would shove it right back in moments later. If you were really determined, you could have some sort of valve that would allow air from the computer when there was negative pressure and seal it off when there is positive pressure. Though typically simple in design, the speed at which this valve would have to opperate would be rather fast. Though it is a creative idea, it would be hard to do and wouldnt have much benefit.
Wicked_Jester
The sub would just blow hot air into the case from the voice coil heating up ...

invidious
my 200watt sub doesnt blow out any air

Godgrrrrr I hate that misconception. DISTORTION DOES NOT KILL ANYTHING! Power kills speakers, nothing else.

Also - the air "moving" in a port is not really moving, just sweeping back and forth. If you actually got enough air moving to do anything, you'd just be shoving the same air back and forth through your computer.

The sound pressure inside your case wouldn't be good for it either, it would just knock things loose. The line you run from the sub port to the case would throw off the tuning of the sub enclosure as well, ruining it's sound quality and volume.

In short, don't do it. tongue.gif
