Are there any precautions i have to take when spray-painting my monitor black, extra heat etc. one of my firends painted her monitor purple and it fried the thing.

well.. when you paint it just take the caseing off so you wount have anything 2 worry about, and i dont think heat will be a factor monitors are built to widthstand a lot of heat, and as long as ur not covering the air vents it will be fine, soo good luck. B)

Don't cover the vents! You'll be fine. It only takes once to realize you've . up again.

I've been considering doing that with mine too.... My plans were to cover the the screen [duh!] and do my best to cover the vents to be not to get any spray mist inside to the components.....

i just finished it looks pretty good and so far so good, however i didnt just tape stuff off and cover the screen i took the darn thing apart (whilt i was in there i canged the LED to Blue

) i would deffinatly not recomend painting it with it all still together.

the frame part around my screen is red, i just taped it off well and painted that..then removed the back cover and put in 3 windows, 3 fans (so i don't fry the thing by removing the air holes) 2 80mm in....1 120mm out. Painted the entire back casing chrome, and put in some red lights put it all togather, and wala...it works...19" monitor is yet to be fried....i dont' got to see that nasty beige, and a nice red glow comes from the back...

How do you get power to the fans and the LEDs inside of the monitor?

I just ran a Molex conecter to my computer and made a home made little plug in the back, put some heat wrap around it and zip tied it to my monitor cable so it lookes all pretty...once i get my digi cam fixed ill set it up for all to see

I might just have to try that...I wonder what would happen if I put a power supply in my monitor

hmm...im not sure but you might want to think about putting shielding around it if you do it....im not sure if they have any magnets or anything that would distort the monitor....maybe somone else might know :/ i little 130 watt one could be ripped out of MINI HP or somthin and would create plenty of power for lites and fans i would think anyways.
