a warning to all the owners of enermax psu's, noisetakers in particular. was having a heat problem. got someone to check over my case to see if he could spot anything wrong that i'd missed, and he noticed that the 80mm fan in the back of my psu was in the wrong way round (blowing in instead of out).

All I have is a case and a power supply. Is there a way to check it before I get a mobo in it? I just got a coolgiant 480.

i find myself feeling the temp of the air coming out of the back of the psu, if i didnt feel air coming out the back, that would be the first indication something was amiss

i did personally build my pc. and yes it was in a sealed box with celophane and everything.
i openid it up, put the fan the right way round, and it was still giving off very few cfms, so i put a new fan in. still no change. i'm now thinking its the fan controler thats broken. so i'll hotwire that to bring the voltage up to full. thanks for the tip about the wires to make it start without being connected to a m0b0, save me having to put it all back in to find out its made no difference at all.

i never keep a PSU the way it is, first thing i do is change the stock fan for a good one, the one i have now has 38-40some cfm anything in front fly's away

i think i will do just that. it will take quite a bit of modding though, as all the connecters on the inside are wired completly different to anything on the outside. its to discourage modding.
