if you did a really good job and really took your time, then yes, you could do it. Do i recommend it? no. I'd wait for your dremel or whatever u need to get it done. But of course these are just my opinoins and you can do what u want.

You could probably find a 120mm hole saw (or something a bit smaller and just file it out). I know it's easy to find an 80mm saw (3 inches), but I bet there's something close to 120 out there

Use handtools! The is this handtool saw that looks like a C-clamp, only it has a thin saw going in between the "c". This is what I will be using when I put my blowhole in.

Coping saw?

Vasto
Ya. I just forgot the name.

Believe when I say cutting a fanhole with a coping saw is HARD work... i went through like 5 blades doing 4 holes... 2x 120mm and 2x 80mm... it's not something i EVER want to do again... especially on the steel case!!!! it took forever and a day too

now i have in my hands, freshly delivered, a 114mm holesaw and pilot drill arbor... probably could rent one from your local rent-a-tool place... i wanted to own one... i don't mind owning tools biggrin.gif

i'm so chuffed... i can cut my front and rear fan grills out on my tsunami tonight... perfect circular holes... just gonna have a pizza and watch a bitta tv... then it's on with the show... the case modding show biggrin.gif

(basically i'm gonna sort out my whole new a64 rig minus the cpu, ram, and hd's)

I used a dremel to but 2 x 80mm holes in my case, worked like a charm.

hmmm for holes i woudl recomend buying a 120mm holesaw blade.... and useing a CORDED drill, cordless drills dont have enuff power, i think cutting lagre hole with a dremel is foolish, u wast many blades, wear the crap out of your dremel, and it takes longer. find a 120mm holesaw blade, or even a 110-115mm would be good, then you would have a bit of leeway for file the edges oh the case smooth again,

behold the sexyness of holesaw action! biggrin.gif

: front fascia

- you can't actually see into the case as easily as it appears through that hole, it's just the flash lights it up... i might get something like a cool 120mm lazercut grill to put here... dunno... anyway it's alright for now

: behind front fascia

- this used to have a "punched holes hex mesh" here... now it has a 114mm hole, rubber trim, and 120mm chrome fan grill

: booty shot

- same deal as last one, except this mesh was worse to begin with, ugly bump and smaller holes in the hex mesh...

btw, if anyone's wondering, yes i did drill holes in the side of the aerogate mounting bracket for it to sit flush with the front fascia (and consequently for the door to close shut fully)
kobalt
Great job man ohmy.gif if not for the extra holes on the side i would look factory made huh.gif

hardnrg whats that huge round thing in top front drive bay?
hardnrg
thanks kobalt smile.gif my first holesaw experience... i'm in love wub.gif lol

that "huge round thing" is an aerocool gatewatch 4-way fan controller, 4-way temp monitor, volume control and er... Aerosaurus lol

edit: oh wait, trick question eh? the huge round thing is the screen for the gatewatch... aha...
