Done it! biggrin.gif USB on my NF7-S seems to be able to cope with it, so I am happy! I do still have to glue around the USB connector on the back of the box because it wiggles a bit, but...picture time!

Had to make one picture dark so you could actually see the display, otherwise it's just a solid blue glow of evilness smile.gif

EDIT: There's a better picture at the bottom of the page smile.gif

The box stuff cost me like £15, That was basically..The reason there was two of each... is because I didn't know which was male and which was female. One of each was right angled pins (pretty useless) so.. all you actually need is a straight pin male parallel connector. Cheap enough anyway!

Then you just need:
  • An old IDE cable (strip it and use that for the wires to connect up everything inside the box)
  • 2r7 resistor
  • 10k pot
  • 100R pot
  • pin headers
  • crimp pin
  • connector housings. (You USA folks can probably find all those cheapy at RadioShack or whatever! I had to order those online sad.gif cost me £20! )
2 LCD's was £30 for me.. totals up to......... £65 for two LCDs, one boxed one (this one) and one in a drive bay in my server! Just had a look and CrystalFontz make a USB LCD in a case, it's about $120 for one. It cost me around that much to make two smile.gif

I impressed myself anyway! Sorry for the lack of any kind of walkthrough of what I did.. it's quite simple really though! Follow an LCD wiring diagram, cut some holes in a box!

UPDATE: Digital camera does actually seem to take faily decent pictures. Last time I tried it didn't!! So here you go! Got a few more but it's mainly just demoing of screen writing stuff, cept one which shows the connectors clearly (dang crappy webcam! Sorry!)

Nice job MrBoo!! But why did'nt you mount it in the case?.......just curious dry.gif

I've already got one mounted in a case you see smile.gif There was actually no room to fix it in my computer case drive bay anyhow and I wanted to use it on my laptop too (no molex there!). This one was fun to make and it's portable too.. and.. it's on my desk right infront of me so I can look at it 24/7 rolleyes.gif

I think it needs some sort of stand or little rubber feet or something though!

Here's the drive bay mounted one...

That computer is in desperate need of a new case I think smile.gif
