Heya fellas,

I am getting a new case and PSU but I am on a budge of about 80ish dollars. I can deal with a bland tower as long as it has decent ventilation and is semi-sturdy. And I will overclock minimally. My system is as follows:

Amd 3500+ (newcastle)
eVga Geforce 6800gt
msi k8n neo2 platinum
crucial ballistix 2x512mb ddr ram (2-2-2-5 latency)- about to order
sb live 5.1

I just want to be able to play some games. Overclocking is a distant second. I will try any combo or tower suggested because I honestly have no clue about these things (towerwise and so forth). Thank you all for any help, I appreciate you guys taking the time out to gimme a hand.

I am a fan of the Raidmax scorpio cases myself. They run about $50.

Indeed, I have heard alot about them. Are the PSU's that come good enough to keep me alive for a few months with the system I have? That is my only concern. Not looks, but enough performance to keep everything alive and unmelted. tongue.gif

never buy a combo...case/psu...90% of the time the psus that come with them are terrible!

i guess if you're hung for money atm, i guess you could use one for a little while, until you get enough for a decent/good power supply. power supplies are VERY underrated. alot of people will go through replacing so much stuff...when in turn, it's their psu. good psus are VERY important!

as for what case you want...it's all up to the buyer man! asking us is taking all the fun from it! i suggest going to newegg, go to the case section and do a filter including:

Power Supply: Any (but atleast 450w...geh i still wanna tell you to get a case w/o a psu and get a good psu)
Min: 40 (or so...)
Max: 80 (what you said, right?)

finding a decent psu for that system within that budget is the tough part of answering your question... a cheap case is merely no frills and possibly a cut finger... a cheap psu is disaster and tears...

look for a psu first... then find a case with what's left over...

Well, I canceled my order for the system (just put it in this afternoon), I am going to go with a 3000+ winchester, save myself 110 bucks and get a good PSU/case and then OC like a mofo tongue.gif Thanks for the replies, I figure I am screwed if I keep the newcastle, and even more screwed if I don't jump on the 3000 at $156 smile.gif Thanks again guys, it means alot.

Sure No problim, jsut don't go too cheep on the PSU that can really screw up a OC

Definetly, I appreciate all the help. I think that I am going to ask some more questions in the OC forum, now that I may go with a 3000, this gives me more options via ram (OCZ El Platinum Rev2), mabey a Scorpio or Chieftec case, and probably a Thermaltake 480w psu. I just need to make sure this is what I want. tongue.gif Once again, thanks for the help.

EDIT: Well I am going for a TT or Fortron PSU, mabey a OCZ if depending on what I get for the case. Any reccomendations on something that is cheap but has good airflow/cooling? We're talking 65'ish tops (80 for the PSU tongue.gif). Scorpios are pretty cheap, and some good things were said.
