I'm building an AMD64 system for my parents for christmas, and this is my time to build a 64-bit system. I've searched google and occ and can't find a straight answer to my question. Do I need a different type of power supply for a 64-bit system than a 32-bit system? Does it need different specifications or anything like that? If not, I already have 480W Thermaltake picked out.

A standard ATX should be fine... but for some reason if you rmobo uses 24pin.. then you need a diff psu

there are better psu's than Tt for about the same price...
i've got an Antec NeoPower for my a64 rig, hmm, it cost a fair bit more than a Tt tho lol... an Enermax 470W would be way better than a Tt and costs about the same...
i've only got 18A on my Tt's +12v line... the NeoPower has like 32 and the Enermax has something like 36...

Good. I just checked and it uses 20-pin.
Thanks.

You can also use SpeedFan to analyze your PSU.
