I know I am probably gonna get flamed over this as many of the members here like the X-Connect PSU's, but I have some not so good news about them. They are manufactured by Powmax, that would be enough to scare me away from them. Powmax is also known as Raidmax and other, well lets just say not very reputable PSU brand names that are known for good quality. I will admit the possibility that these PSU's may be a entire new breed of PSU's from powmax, but I am not really leaning towards that assumption at the moment IMO.

I am sure several of you members will tell me to google or show me a review of one of these PSU's. But the fact is that at least 75% of online reviews are simply nOObish reviews. For example, a ton of PSU reviews will use software monitoring programs/BIOS to measure the voltages. When I see this method of monitoring voltages the review looses all credibility. Here are some other important aspects of a review as well: Efficiency, PSU temperature, PF (power factor), ripple (measured with a ocilliscope), and weight.

Honestly I bet powmax makes a pretty good percentage of money on these PSU's. The shiny bling-bling looks makes it look expensive, but the actual material cost is probably by far not that much.

I know it seems like I keep ranting on about this. But I believe these PSU's are simply too over-hyped.

That's a nice find. I never new this. I'm gonna have to search some more reviews on this ps. I've been thinkin about getting an x-connect but maybe not now.

That doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to be a bad power supply. I have a Raidmax 420W on my old AMD 2000+ rig and it is holding up great considering it's pumping out 1.8v to the cpu. smile.gif

I have had good luck with Raidmax PSU's, but it is true they aren't much when OCing. I have an X-Connect and have pushed it extremely hard and haven't had any problems out of it. I did not buy it for the shiny bling bling lol I bought it because it showed good rail voltages. I did not know that Powmax made them. If I had I probably would have thought about buying it a little more, but after owning one I wouldn't care if Donald Duck manufactured it. It is a good PSU.

i'd buy it just for the bling-bling anyway

I don't know what the problem is, I have had people actually recommend Powmax to me. Never heard anything bad. A large custom pc and mod store in the US, PC club uses their stuff. PC Club
