Whats a good 500W+ PSU for a new rig i want
Specs:
AMD Athlon64 3500+ 90nm Socket939
Some type of Nforce4 SLI board (when they come out)
6800gt
74gb raptor
80gb WD
pc4000 Ballistix RAM
Danger Den water cooling
etc etc.

I'm looking at the Antec True 550Watt 24 pin on newegg. Any other suggestions?
THanks

How about the OCZ PowerStream 520? I wanted one of those but they were too much for me, so I got a Enermax 470 instead biggrin.gif £50 for an extra 50W didn't really seem worth it to me

i never heard anything about that. are they any good?

The OCZ's? They're apparently really good.

There's probably other reviews floating about. The Enermax.. well, all the reviews I read about the NoiseTaker 470 that I ordered today said it was good.

I have the Ultra X-Connect 500W, its really quiet, and the modular cables are pretty sweet in UV light. Not to mention a lot less clutter.

Just remember if you need the 24 pin, you have to buy the 20 to 24 pin x connect cable which is $15 extra. I forgot to look at that and had to wait an extra week for the cable.

yea i was looking at the xconnect also they look nice

Another good alternative is the Silverstone 520W which has SATA connectors, separate 12V rails, active PFC and will work with both 20-pin and 24-pin motherboards.

Is this PSU any good? Enermax 470W Noisetaker for overclocking PSU

Not as good as Thisone.

Since you are building a new rig from scratch I would recommend getting a 24-pin EPS style PSU as opposed to a regular 20-pin ATX PSU, especially if you are going to be running SLI in the future. For the money, either the Tagan 480 or the PCMCIS 550 would be best. Both include 24 to 20 pin adapters to be used on regular 20-pin ATX boards as well.

Enermax/Antec/Silverstone/etc. are all pretty good as well, but they cost more.

You could get an aspire 520 watt ps.
