What's the speed like over parallel? Is it slow? I've been wanting to do something with an LCD for a few years now but never got around to it.

Pretty sweet...you got that off of the old server...you had two of them right? I saw some while looking for mark's routerboards and they go for about $99 bucks if you buy them new I believe. In any case, that's very nice. Have you thought about modding it so that it either fits into a 5.25" bay? Brushed aluminium goes pretty cheap and I bet you could get some cut in the right shape. That depends on what your case looks like though.

Does it work alright? Is it kinda speedy refresh rate? I've heard the parallel ones are slow or something and I was thinking about getting me a parallel one, maybe two if they work out alright.
Is yours an Hitachi controller chip or compatible thing, I assume it probably is? But then I have heard there's 'slow' and 'fast' Hitachi controllers, I will probably end up getting the 'slow' nasty one with my luck

well as far as speed, i dont c anything wrong with it, you can set the refresh rate. some problems i ran into were the ground for the contrast, i ended up getting a dial to control the contrast, and also the backlight, i had to get a 33 ohm resistor. i will try my best to get the pics up, i am still tyring to find my digi camera. overall, i am very happy with this mod, it kicks @ss
