Oct 15 2004, 04:41 PM
is that wrinkly stuff around the turbine the welding compound?
looks good
the only thing i kinda dont like is the design around it
i would of just put the turbine in without cutting the case
General
Oct 15 2004, 04:44 PM
ya the ring around it is the part i hate. I got some putty which will make it all better. goonna putty the entire bezel.

I think ill go do that now.

General
Oct 16 2004, 09:12 PM

ya know general - you could have saved yourself a lot of work and frustration if you just looked at the pvc plumbing pipe section at a hardware store for some end caps that look almost exactly like what you are trying to do there
i know mod'n something from scratch is more rewarding but what you ahve done there looks like a part that i seen today
General
Oct 17 2004, 12:23 AM
well i couldnt find anything like that. i looked for a long time too. Like 2 weeks.
I originally went to the car store in hope that they had some. (the use the same sort of device for making sub boxes) but alas they didnt. went to a few dif hardware and home reno stores. I finally decided to do it myself with pvc piping. anyways i need another paintjob on the bezel. The last one looked like . thanks to the retarded paint the guy sold me

anyways im almost done sanding. should be finished by tommorow. I also have an idea on how to add that extra zing. to it.

i dont use grills mainly cause they stop air flow and your an idiot if your sticking your fingers in there. its worth the risk of better cooling and better looking for the chance of a little blood and pain. or at least IMHO
General
Oct 17 2004, 11:14 AM
If ur dumb enough to stick ur fingers inthere u deserve it.
i also didnt do this for the cooling. Did it for asethetics. Im running down to the hardware store to get some primer

hopefully ill have this done by the end of the day
hardnrg
Nov 3 2004, 06:36 PM
lol, i think the idea of grills is so you don't accidentally stick your finger in there, like if you're moving your case and not looking where your fingers are or i dunno, not on purpose anyway

Nov 7 2004, 07:22 PM
well unless u use a 120mm x 36mm metal fan or higher it wont really hurt you.
about the nose cone thing..
ya just goto a hobby store and pick up a 3/4" spinner (found in the airplane section)

Nov 7 2004, 07:26 PM
Nice job general. How fast is the fan spinning? Is it a low RPM for less noise, or a fast sucker and who cares bout the noise?

.
P.S. Please tell me you got the 9800 Pro. Stupid Customs!!!

oh snaps... thats a good idea, doesnt look like it was done well, looks like the cone is cracked or chipped, but its a good idea none-the-less.
what about making sure the cone is balanced and centered? if it isnt centered and balanced then it will mess up the fan bearings over time.

well in the first pic it looks like the fan is an exhaust

and the cone isnt attached to the fan it self just like the frame of it in the center...

General
Dec 13 2004, 08:50 PM
I took the plexi off. all you gotta do is remove the shinny things with pliers.
anyways the cone:
Its actully the nose for an airplane, and it has holes for the properel.
