Sounds like "some people" don't know what they are talking about.

antec is fairly good. don't think that'll happen

I was ordering a power supply and this one I like because it is made by antec has a lot of approvials on plus the lighted fan. People who installed it blew up on them.

who are 'they' how knoledgeable(sp?) are they? did they do suomething stupid with lit, like plugging in 500 fans on one rail?

Hear are the complants about it off of newegg. came from this link this is what the wrote.

I purchased this Nov. of 2002, and have has some stability issues with my PC. I never ever guessed it woul be a high quality $100 PSU causing my pain. I replaced my mobo and CPU, same issues. I evens started to doubt my video card 9700Pro thinking it might be the cause, until I touched the main ATX connector cable and it rebooted my computer. Basicly it appears like the connectors are not making contact. Not just one mobo, but two. Not good.

Then I turned on the power. BANG! Easily as loud as a 38 pistol. The inside of my case lit up like fireworks as sparks came out of the bottom of the PSU into the case. And the smell of burning electrical insulation was very strong.
A fluke. Sure. Even with Antec apparently cheapening up their product line, I'm sure they didn't intend for this to happen.

I had the same exact thing happen to me on my install of this PSU as ovcc below. Took out my Enermax 350 watt and installed this one for the extra juice. Checked everything very carefully two or three times and closed up the case. Plugged all my keyboard/mouse/speakers/scanner etc, and hit the power button. POW!

BOOM. This PSU worked GREAT for 10 days until it TOASTED itself while booting my rig up after work. At least I got to see a good fireworks show through my Kingwin case window.. Nice oranges to contrast with my blue case fans. Loud bang at first, then a nasty BUZZZZ.. Then it all went black.. LUCKILY nothing on my rig got fried, unlike some others. I guess now I get to see how good NewEgg is about RMAs sad.gif

I've had nothing but good experiences with Antec PSU's. I run their Truepower 430, and I love it.

Look at the stuff I found above true or they don t know what there doing.

but look at all the *****

it gets.

you shouldn't go solely on newegg comments...
worker
Ok I will go and order it I check to make sure that the stuff I buy works well and is not cheap or juncky.

well it looks like that all the "BOOM"s that happened only happened near the first of when newegg started selling them...since late 2002. nothing past mid 2003...

but i think that's overpriced...almost $90 for a 480w power supply without a PFC? i could get something as good (thermaltake silent purepower 480 w/o the PFC) for like $50.

it's your choice

What about quality of somthing I use an antec 400watt in my case for 2 years. I am unsure of thermaltake don t really see people use it in there cases.

You get what you pay for with PSU's. Watts aren't all that matter. Amps on the rails, as well as how stable the voltages are, are the factors that really matter. My main rig runs a 430W antec truepower, and my server runs a cheap-o brand 550W. The 550W may have a higher rated load, but the Antec one is a FAR better powersupply, and I would never trust my main rig to the generic one.

So what you think is better thermaltake or antec?
