I was reading about putting in a keyswitch to replace the power switch. Cool. I wanted to carry it one step further but do not know how. I want the key switch to be one that you turn on but automatically pulls back to the off position. Once turned on I need it to be "latched" on until power is turned off (the computer is powered off). I want it to stay off until the next time I turn the key. The purpose is so I can walk away with the key but I know at the end of the day the machine is powered off and left off until the next day when I turn it on again. I realize if the machine locks up and is shutdown I will need to return to power it on. I do not mind. In concept it is similiar to how a supervisor in a food store turns the key to allow the cashier to do a void... the supervisor walks away.. the cashier can only do the one void. Any ideas??? I know I will need a key switch, probably a latch relay, but I do not know how to hook it up or what to do next (including a keyswitch and a latch relay that will work with the 12VDC to 120VAC that the computer uses). HELP! Thanks.
P.S. If there is something out there that exists that I can buy that I do not have to do this myself that would be great. Let me know where and I will order/buy it!
P.S.S. A password on the motherboard CMOS would seem to accomplish the same thing but I do not want to remember passwords or have to give them to people. A key lock will allow me to just give the key and get it back. No muss, no fuss.
