Hey all!

I just had this thought about putting my res and pump back in my case ( although I aint too sure about the res, which is why I am asking some questions smile.gif ) but... I really don't have any room inside my case to mount this radiator even if I was upto cutting big holes in my case.

So, that said, I thought why not just bolt the radiator to the side of my case, outside ofcourse? I think it'd look pretty neat.. the only problem I have there is that it would mean either blowing hot air inside my case, which I don't really wanna do(!) or using the air in my case to pull through the radiator... which aint exactly gonna be the coldest air in the world!

My idea was to somehow bolt it to the side but leave a, say, 1cm gap between the side panel and the rad, so it's actually still pulling room air through it; the only problem is I have NO idea how I would do this?!? so I need your ideas, please please please biggrin.gif

I'll try bodge something up, in the form of a picture (or two merged even) of what I mean later if I can..

why don t you just get some 80 or 120 mm fans and have them blow out the hot air that goes it your case. Got any pictures of the case?

I do have 2x80mm's and a 92mm in the case, but they're low voltage so low noise... don't think they'd be enough to push out the hot air from my radiator quick enough though really, and i'm not willing to sacrifice my nearly quietness.

I'm thinking it should go on the top and just raise it a little with two sorta... blocks of wood like rails

You can see one fan right at the bottom, there's one in the bay thing above that you might not be able to see too well. And there's a 92mm in the panel, which you won't be able to see smile.gif

I do the same put it on the top hot air rises better air flow. what do the fans in the front do blow in or out? If they blow out turn around front fans to blow in more air flow for the 120mm fan. I get a color one blue look good in your case. biggrin.gif I will post links the blue colord on and the one with the most air flow.

smile.gif thanks.

They're blowing inwards and the 92mm in the side is blowing out. Ideally I want to just have the rad raised a bit away from the case so it gets outside air. I think I'll just stick a couple of small bits of wood under it or something, bolting the rad down... that should stop the wood coming out easy.. that or i'll end up screwing the wooden bits on!

Well, I think that's what I am gonna try and do. Still dunno if I should have it on the back side panel (non windowed thing on the other side) or on top. It won't be able to fit under my desk if I mount it on top... and before anyone says it, no, there's not enough room to mount the rad up the top inside the case and yes I do want all my drive bays intact smile.gif

Why would a fan in your computer effect how it fits in your desk. if you put it on top get blue get a alien coil look cool look @ mine.its only 80mm.

i don't think i understand what worker's saying, but i think it'd be cool to mount the rad to your desk...and have a couple of fans on there. just get a cheap psu and use that to power the fans...
worker
I get it know work great like he said.

lol seems I have caused confusion! I'm talking about mounting a radiator to my computer, side or top... but I need a gap between the radiator and the computer so it gets air from my room and not in my case.

About what I said about not fitting under my desk, I meant if I mounted the radiator on top of my case... the computer only just fits under my desk as it is!

EDIT: Oh, and I can't mount it to my desk... it's GLASS smile.gif laugh.gif don't want glass all over my room trying to drill through it! But yeah, that'd be pretty darn cool and original smile.gif and... don't need another PSU, I made a quick release power cable style thing which connects to the PSU inside my computer smile.gif
worker
Got a picture of your set up of the desk? Just make some room for it it all fit.
markiemrboo
it won't fit under my desk with it mounted on top, end of story smile.gif not unless I buy a new desk which is taller. I like my computer under my desk sideways because the window is facing me, but I guess I will just have to mount it on top and.. move it so it's beside my desk... I don't think it'd be all that... moveable... bolted onto the side really! It'd be kinda awkward I think.

The idea seems pretty straight forward, drill some little holes, bolt, stick two planks of wood on either side, photograph smile.gif so, i'll have to get back to you in a few days unless anyone has any suggestions how I could get a gap between my case and the radiator, wood probably won't look all that... tidy....matching..... smile.gif then again it might look ok if I just painted it silver maybe... HMM! I guess I just won't know until I try huh?! smile.gif
