I was browsing xoxide.com and I came across sleeving kit. Link at bootom. It says it expands 150% and can slip over connectors . Is this for real?

Link
roadkill
lies..

that would dammage the sleeving soo much... it would rip holes in it..

dnt be lazy, just take off the connectors
crash
Nope. you still need a molex remover tool. Think about it, 150% of 1/2 inch is 3/4 inch. Molex connectors are 1 inch wide.

btw, for your standard power supply cables you'll want to use the 1/4 inch loom. that stretches to around 3/4 inch and it will still be tight after instasllation. I used the smallest loom for my fans, ect. so I still needed to take the connectors off. They're easy, though. You just need a tiny flat screwdriver.

you can use ink tubes from pens to remove the standard 12v molex pins,

for the femal ppins, use gel pen tubes, they are larger than standard

for a male molex pin, use a normal pen ink tube
computergee
thanks, i was thinking bout doing it but was scared of doind the 20 pin one, if i replace the connectors with uv ones can i do the pins one at a time?
roadkill
yep, just get order right, remember to do diagrams.. or.. ewll you will smell burning stuff smile.gif
General
I would recomend buying a UV reactive kit smile.gif
henbenley
I tried doing that and ripped up some of my sleeving, then I went and got a molex remover tool and it worked great, its worth the extra cash to get it done right. And I also got my stuff from xoxide. Works great when done right.
General
pfft. xoxide. buncha theives
henbenley
eh maybe but thats who i wanted to use
roadkill
if you get UV connectors, some come in with tools, but you cna always use pen ink tubes!!!!!! I DID! my sleeving came out nice tongue.gif IMHO, look at mycase in profile, you will seee tongue.gif
henbenley
theres only one problem i see with using ink pen tubes, the ink begins to drip out getting all over your brand new sleeving and all over you and your clothes and then your got your self into a little mess, but as long as you can avoid that then it would work great
roadkill
well comon sence w ould tell you to cut the end off the tube and use the cut off part.. now why the hell would you use a full tube????
henbenley
well theres only like an inch or so at the end of the tube that dont have any ink in it so you would kinda have to use the whole thing, but maybe canadian pens are different from US pens, and i would use a full tube becuase i'm an idoit and not really thinking right now
roadkill
well, an empty pen tube then tongue.gif

for female molex pins, use "Gel Pen" ink tubes, thier wider in diamater, allowing it to slip over pin
henbenley
oh ok that would work then, i guess i better quit typing and then start writing some letters instead, all using the same pen. wait i already have a molex remover tool why do i need to do that, eh whateva, tis bed time for me
themodguy
I bought the sleeving kit and did my PSU. The MB power one was already done.

The sleeves do not go over the molex if you try, maybe you will suceed but I found it extremely frustrating.

I had to take the molex off and even then it was time consuming. I had to tape the pins together so they didn't get snagged in the sleeving.

When I put it on the sleeving started unravelling so the ends don't look that pretty.

I am not saying don't do it, or that you should not do it. I think my wires look great now. Just be prepared for a little bit of time.

Cheers
henbenley
for the ends you need to put some heatshrink on it to keep it from fraying and to keep it looking good. i snagged a couple of mine but it wasnt too bad, the slower you go the better it'll end up looking, unless of course your "challanged"
roadkill
you can tape the molex pins to stop the snagging,
henbenley
yep i envetually did that, after a couple frustrating tries
General
I had a hell of a time. Vantec gives you about 2 feet of the most useless heatshirnk ever. the really big stuff that fits over everything but doesnt shrink worth a dang. and barely any of the stuff you actully need around wires.

Seriously sometimes the mental state of people who design these things boggles me.

so now i have a few cables without sleeving on them and they look like hell.

Im thinking of going to an electrical shop and buying 6 feet of the dang stuff.
suchuwato
where do you guys buy your uv reactive molexes from?
computergee
look at frozencpu.com. They have kits in a lot of colors.
roadkill
lol general!

My sleeving was techflex, the heatshrink they gave.. yeh it shturnk using a blow dryer.. but not enough.. so I shrunk it witha ligher.. like how I normaly shrink heatshirnk.

But this techflex heatshrink is some cheap crap, so it starts to burn.. it has scorch marks and "bubbles" ohmy.gif now how the hell did that hapen? meh good thing I have extra heatshrink.. didnt have to use that techflex crapshrink smile.gif
henbenley
I had to use a lighter too, although everyone was against it, I still did it anyway. Mine didnt get any burn marks or bubbles, but that might have been becuase of the way I was using the lighter. I quickly moved it from side to side while turning the wires so it didnt burn. and general i really hated how much of that huge stuff they gave me too, its big enough to fit around everything yet doesnt shrink at all.
General
if u wanna use a lighter and not get burn marks, just hold it under the blue part f the flame smile.gif I cant explain it, but just do it. i was thinking of getting some UV connectors. thats about the only no UV thing in my case. apart from the drives. and cards

also i think its time to overclock the hair dryer.
roadkill
eh your asking for an explosion if you do that tongue.gif
henbenley
now why does anyone here even have a hair dryer, but in case general really wants to o/c his hair dryer i have a guide, but remember that i take no responsiblitly for you blowing yourself up or in anyway damaging your very pink looking hair dryer

step 1: you will need more juice to get to the hair dryer so begin by finding an electrical cord and splice the end

step 2: open the hair dryer and then find where the other cord connects and attach the new cord right next to the old one

step 3: find one of the heating coils and then attach a wire from the electric current to the heating coil

step 4: close hair dryer and turn it on

hope this helps you [general] turn your pretty pink hair dryer into a heating beast

and this is what generals hair dryer looks like
