I read this article http://www.overclockersclub.com/shinnyboyproject.php but they forgot one thing. How can I attach the plexi glass to the computer. I guess you don't stick it on there with super glue. I can't see what the corners are and how they work. Perhaps this information could be added to the review aswell.

I'm also working on my first real mod. I'm going to submerge my computer. biggrin.gif Now that's what I call watercooling. some of you might have seen it before. I admit it's not my own idea. I have seen it once, but I don't know where, so I redisigned it which was not hard to do. I hope I have it finished after the weekend. I will get some pics and post them when I'm done. all of you who know this, don't tell the rest so I can keep them wandering for a few more days.

3M makes on non-condutive clear liquid.

has all the proerties of water just doesn't conduct electric.
Acid Storm
it's not that m3 stuff. it's a bit more fake, but it looks better.
Ronin
non electic conducting water?! I want some of that! Do you guys know how useful that owuld be? I could put my computer in it and then FREEZE the thing! whoa....the cooling! THE COOLING!!! ::passes out::

withstupid.gif Just thought it would be a perfect time to use this new icon. smile.gif
Ronin
when I see you tomarrow be warned, I will be kicking you
mikeock
yet the use of another icon smack.gif
Acid Storm
lol biggrin.gif

I think I'm giving some false hope. that non condutive water would be realy cool, but I was thinking about the more fake solution. don't think to big. I'm having to much fun to tell what it is yet, but it's gonna look very cool.
rbbomar
Water doesnt conduct electicity, on the particales in the water,
i.e. the oil, dirt, etc.
tarkins
100% pure water doesn't conduct electricity so yes it should be possible to put your computer in it
ATI Radeon 8500
Uhh...Last time I checked very good laboratory quality distilled water will NOT conduct electricity because it has no ions. I'm not going to test it on my omputer though. Anyway Flourinert which is the 3M stuff is a rip off for $500/gallon and you need a license to buy it. Very un3l337. But I would just maybe try distialled water on a really really old computer if you want to test it, but my $2000+ system isn't touching water directly...
Ronin
that would be pimp!
ATI Radeon 8500
Yeah that TechTV thing says that deionized water which I THINK is distilled water will work. Yeah but it is still too risky for me...
Acid Storm
I'm about half way dont, so I hope to have it finished tomorrow. luckely y'all won't be able to kick me biggrin.gif

Post some picks biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

This is my first post.

You can check out this direct link to the 3m site that talks about that hydroflouroether stuff. By clicking on the links on the left you can change between the different temp. tolerances.

The product the link goes to is the one that they talk about on TechTV. B)

Is it finished?
Acid Storm
unfortunatly it had some leaks so I fixed that, but is has to dry 24hours. Right now i have a bit to much school work, so I hope I can finish it on Friday if the leaks are fixed right.

the rest looks great. I just need a blue light which is hard to get in this small town. it's the only middle of nowhere in whole crowded holland mad.gif

I have a dozen pics when it's done

does anyone know when the case gallery is going to open?
Acid Storm
Unfortunatly there are still some leaks, and it's gonna take more time to fix those. it's pretty hard to make a water proof box.
I hope it's done not, I'm gonna test it in the morning.

there still itn't a good guess how it works.
this might be your last chance.

(by the way, is there a rule to not replie to fanatic newbies?? 90% of the replies I give doesn't have new posts anymore)
Acid Storm
after an other 3 attempt to make it water proof, I started on the forth. Is there anybody who has some tips on making plasy glass corners water proof. I don't want my computer all dried up biggrin.gif
TiKiGoD
try using an epoxy of some sort
Mercury
haha, the old yellow sumbmarine... always a challenge! B)

heres a suggestion, go down to your local hard ware store and buy some clear caulk, it is like liquid rubber, and it is used for water proofing things like showers...

just shoot it in all the corners, and the edges, anywhere that the glass connects, then just run your finger along where the edges connect and it will create a smooth curve in the caulk, and it should also be water proof... as long as you dont pick at it rolleyes.gif

and yes, i have also heard that distilled water is good for water cooling systems because if it leaks, it wont short circuit your computer, so i guess it would work for your computer... i wouldnt try it though tongue.gif my guess is that it would heat up way too fast

i wonder what would happen if you left the fans in, it would be kinda strange but cool, like little whirlwinds smile.gif
DevilMB3017
Or, go to a petshop and get aquarim cement. Its an epoxy that would seal it. I like the caulk idea personally thou. Plus, you can get it colors biggrin.gif
Mercury
hmm im wondering... think maybe you could put a few drops of food coloring into the caulk and mix it up real good before you apply it? that would look sooo sweet! i wonder if the food coloring would break some chemical compounds in the caulk tho, i dont think it would though
Acid Storm
i't still almost done now. thanks for the tips. it's taking much longer then i expected, but I hope it's going to work well. I have bought an air pump for some nice bubbles.
