i'm seeing all these cool mods with 8 fans of water collers and stuff, but is it a that stupid idea to leave the side off?? it would save a lot of noise with of casefans. what are the advantages of all those fans, and the disadcantages of an open case.

now we newbies can read for what we are cutting up our casses.

thanks.

I know on my new computer leaving the side panel drops it about 4degrees but i dont have any case fans.... other than the volcano 7+ so i dont know if it is more effecient...... i have my side panel off at the moment.... but the modded windows just looks cool.....

My temperature droped about 8C. since I'm not able to overclock stable yet I don't realy need the temperature. Dust is a problem though. I took off 2C by cleaning my heatsing since it was probebly blocking the airflow.

dust might also cause static. I haven't noticed any problems, but i guess you never can tell it it crashes.

most people have there case open to show off there mods..

alot of people I will say hey take ur door off if ur comp is overheating..
Sure with the door on noise is reduced.. but.. if ur comp is overheating takeing the door off is the #1 thing that helps that or get abigger fan on ur cpu heatsink..

Its just a cheaper alternative smile.gif

my temp actually gets hotter with the side panel off.... so i guess that shows that it depends what ur room temp is.

YEah I drop maybe 2C-3C without a side panel on. I can't keep mine open though because my little sister is stupid and will probably blow up my motherboard and fry herself. What I want to try though is to mount a small ceiling fan on the side of my case. That would be cool but would be hard to get it to work and would be huge. Oh well but for the temperature freak that is a good idea...I think tongue.gif ...

also does depend on the fans you have in your case

My airflow is pretty good so if I open my case, all my temp level up of 3 or 4 degres

I guess you must have a very good air flow before your temp goes up when opening your case. I can see why, but you probebly need some fans and constant air movement.

I think dust is a bigger problem to me than heat.

thanks for the replies!

I have a HoneyWell Air Filter tilted on its side blowing cool air into my comp when I want it cool. I can drop all my temps by atleast 8 - 10 degrees! I'll take a pic of it and post it. The best thing about it is I don't have many mods done yet. I only have Rounded IDE Cables and Wire Loomed Power Supply! I plan on adding Copper Chipset Heatsinks, Volcano 7+. tongue.gif

I still want to get a fan of approx. equal size to the side of my case, and mount it on there, rather than a side. One step closer to a case you can turn on its side and use as a helicopter.

that would be very cool biggrin.gif , but I would worry about getting hit by the blades. you would also suck all the dust from he room into your computer. if you put a filter in it, you never have to vacume again! tongue.gif
