right now i have 4 fans but going to cut a blow hole so thats 5 fans Ive decided on getting a Coolermaster Cooldrive 4 wich controls 4 fans put it has a 40mm fan i think so that take up 1 fan connector so i need another fan controller that can control 3 fans any suggestion?

Most fan controllers will allow you to daisy chain fans together to run off a single fan connector on the fan controller. Just read the manuel and it will tell you how many amps get pumped through each connector and that will determine how many fans can connect to it.

So you're going to use 2 fan controllors? huh.gif

I doubt the fan in the CoolDrive uses up one of the channels. dry.gif

Also, why can't you connect 2 fans to one channel, and control them together? That way, you'd only need one controller.

theres 4 3 pin connectors and in all the reviews i saw of the cool drive 4 they used 1 of the channels for the 40mm

I just said that, but your way is simplar.
Just be careful of the amps that your fans draw. I accidently hooked too many fans up on the wrong controller and burnt it out. Just be careful when you daisy chain them. 2 fans together shouldn't be a problem.

Well, we kinda said it at the same time.

Yeah, like 2 tornados would instantly fry a channel on a controller. 2 standard LED fans, on the other hand, will work fine together.

then i guess ill get 2 bc i have 3 tornadoes and 2 panflos

so which other fan controller should i get?
Dasterdly
If it has 4 ports, you use one per tornado, and one for the two panaflos.

How bout this one click

You will have to mod the tornados to use 3 pin connectors though.

I've heard nothing but good for looks bad for functionality about that musketeer controller.

if you want a fan conttroller that can handle the tornadoes the get the vantech nexus as it is designed with tornado fans in mind

still looking for another controller i know i will get the cool drive 4 and maybe the vantec nexus 205 or the one that controls 3 fans and the CCFLs

I would probably advise against the Cooldrive/Aerogate II (that's what the Cooldrive is aint it? Just with a hard disk compartment). I own an Aerogate II. Looks really lovely... but it's quite terrible IMO smile.gif

The alarms are prefixed and annoying, very loud mind. You can't turn them off... it's about 42C alarm for two of the temp sensors and.. 55? for the other two). The fan fail alarms are ok, I don't mind those. I wouldn't mind the temp alarms if they weren't prefixed.

It also makes a very annoying BEEP BEEP when you turn the computer on. It doesn't seem to save the fan speed settings/dial colour for me either. Piece of junk all in all, i'd say!

lol, my cooldrive 4 does remember rpm settings and colours. As for the overtemp alarms, never heard one, though in summerdays my cpu reaches 50°C (aircooled, not for long though) and never had an alarm!!!
The only thing i agree on is the 2 beeps at bootup, but that's only at bootup, and nobody boots his rig 6 times a day! bah.gif
markiemrboo
lol that's true, but sometimes I do reboot early hours in the morning... and it kills my ears smile.gif

I know it's supposed to remember the settings, I probably just got a faulty one or something smile.gif

The alarms... they're just annoying. I hate them! I heard one at 42/43C at like 3AM, so I was practically dieing on the floor trying to get the sensor away from the dang hard disk. It was just SO annoying. I'm thinking about taking the dang buzzer out of the thing biggrin.gif
Varry
i suppose u could, i saw some howto's on the net that explain how to take the buzzer out, u could also make it quiter by adding a drop or 2 of hot glue (saw that on a howto aswell)

No buzzer at all will do me just fine smile.gif I'll take a look at it next time I have my computer in bits, some time soon I imagine smile.gif
