Well there are the pics. Not too bad considering the case had to be completely drilled out to remove thetop pannel.. (dang you antec).

so whole project = 2 hours, still needs a little sanding. And there's a slight hum, which I think may be because I stood the fan off from the case top using a rubber washer. The air passing by the gap between the fan and the case might be causing this problem.

Stats:
Room temp = 22 C

Before:
CPU = 39/47
case = 31/32

After:
CPU = 35/41
case = 28/28

::edit:: after turning the fan around I get these temps
CPU = 33/38
case = 28/30

Here's the pics.

(I love my arctic cooling fans..)

looks good biggrin.gif
maybe i should add a blowhole in my chieftech case ph34r.gif
Ornlu
Yeah... just drill the rivets right out. Actually I don't know if the chieftecs are riveted, but that was truly the most annoying part of the project.. Because it not only involves drilling out the three rivets on the back, but also the three infront which requires removing the bezel, and drilling the two on the sides, both side pannels need to be off. So basically doing this requires you to take apart your entire case.

Good job, nice pics tongue.gif

Im gonna do one sometime this weekend too smile.gif

I hate cutting with a dremel tho, especcily in a circle

I think im just gonna pony up the 60 bucks and buy a hole saw.

Good job! Keep it up! foldon.gif foldon.gif

I bought a premodded case, it has a side and top window, each with a tri-led fan, i then added 2 exhaust tri-led fans, and 1 intake at front of case, and gonna add 3 more there. Im thinking about gong water cooling though.

Lmao! i have h20 and im not using any fans lol. My mobo temps dont drop below 40
I like my beer cold, my computer fast, and my decibels O-U-T !
Ornlu
Actually general, the loudest thing in my case right now is the hard drive. The panaflow fan is nearly silent when slightly undervolted, while still retaining excellent airflow.

*drools* then *crys* i want to buy a new case..well actually a whole new system and get rid of my gateway anyone wanna loan me like $700 lol...anyways very nicely done love the whole thing

*announcement*
days til window kit for my gateway haha approx. 16 days

Hmm this is with the back fans on exhaust and the blowhole exhausting, with the two front fans / the side fans intaking. The motherboard temperature has risen 2 degrees (28-30) however the CPU temp is solid at 41... I'm about to turn the top blowhole into an intake with the same setup and see what happens. Then I'll be flipping the video card cooler to an exhaust and check that as well.

click on the pic for a bigger version.

Btw, does something look wrong with my -12v line? should it really be around -7 V? I am prime stable so.. eh.. might be a reading error?

Anyway ::EDIT:: these are the new temps.

CPU solid at 38 load 33 idle
case temp 30-31 idle/load.

with all that exhaust the air may not have a chance to really touch the mother board..but dont worry about that..your temps are great i wish i have 41*C or lower Load temps i have 48*C...but if you really want that extra degree then flip the blowhole one around and see if that works and also your video cooler liek you already said... also make sure that behinde where your computer sits it isnt like right up agains the wall the hat air will stay in that area and may get back into the case...just move it away from anyting by like 4 inchs or so if it is agains something..hopefully that helps
Ornlu
Yep, I did try it as an intake. Dropped me to 38c load 33c idle like I said. I think there may be too much intake though 85 + 25 + 25 + 25 = 165, exhaust : 30 + 30 + 10 + 18 = 88, nearly half... So if I flip the side intake around and use it as an exhaust, I think it may get quieter and even it up a LITTLE more

especially if I put it on high

135 in vs 118... we'll see.

Nice work on the blowhole, Ornlu... like the rubber additions too, keeps the sound low. To all others that use LED fans, I choose to UV reactive fans instead of led's, the led's give off a little heat. With my OC's I can't afford any more heat, being all air cooling.
Ornlu
Yeah, probably a good idea, but my led fans are only on my exhausts at the moment. So it shouldn't effect it that much.

nice work.. looks good and does the job aswell...........
