[B] start of next year i will be building my 2nd ever PC, well i will be adding hardware anyway, cause i have to save £2,500 ( $4,000 ). but at the moment i am doing the starting stages of modding my full tower. its going to have a top window and side window and be painted black with 2 white racing stripes down it.
heres what i have done so far.

here is the cutting of the fan holes out

after

and this is a key switch i brought from ebay real cheap. its 3 way but im just using it for on and off at the moment. first electrics i have wired and i know its works as i have tested it on my current system.
there was a convinient sized square imdent on the fron, so i cut it out leaving a small bit round the edge. this allowed me to undo it and slide it in the hole, then put the back-back on so its nice and snug

the switch

hole cut

then in place

and final front look, it will blend in nice when i get it painted black

I like the key thing, i hope you paint it a kick arse color.

i've always wanted to take a case like that and just mod the hell out of it....i mean it would be an awesome project, i just don't know where to look.

like those old ones that are like 2' tall...i love those.
Dasterdly
That's the weirdest looking case I have ever seen with the floppy and 5.25 bays like that. Anyways, good luck on the build.
What kind of hardware are you thinking of getting?
and Is it hard to to the wiring for the key start?
hardnrg
ah mate, looks like yer gonna have fun! yer rear top fan is an intake though, isn't it gonna be an exhaust?

i'd be itching to cut 120mm holes in that beast... especially that rear top one...

i'm sorely tempted to stick my next rig in a full tower...

yeah, i said it will be going black in colour, with 2 white racing stripes down it from back to front. i will be getting it done in a car body shop, cause i cant be botherd to do all that painting and sanding again and again, and i would bugger it up.

i got a top window kit in the post. , screw on so i can take it out when i get it painted, then a side window will be comming over all the way from america, with a nice laser etch and custom shape. will keep updating but its gonna take a bit o time

with the key switch, i took it apart to see how it worked cause i know almost nothing bout how electrics work, and it was realy easy, give it a go.

i dont know exactly what will be going in it, cause it will be whats best out at the time, amd though, and im a gamer. definately watercooling, always wanted to give that a try.
i might make that top one at the back a 120 mm fan, and i know its the wrong way round, it was just in for pics. but i dont want too many fans in it cause it will be watercooled with a nice big thermochill 2x 120mm rad.
and the case was a real cheapo at £30 $50 ish, not very well constructed, but it will be amazing when i finish with it, actualy i sliced my finger quite bad on it, i thought i was gonna have to go for stitches
airman
where did you get the case?
Mangar
Nice to see someone else using the rubber edge moulding beside me !!

Looks like you will be have fun !
hardnrg
probably somewhere about 3,000 miles away from where you are airman...
yatstv
well im in the UK so if thats where u r from, then its from aria.co.uk. im sure u can find something like it.
yeah i cant wait to get on with it. but theres not much i can do realy. just put top window in when it comes, then i got to save up for the side window and watercooling kit.
Symeon
Great start, it will be awesome to see the final product.

I just got on old full tower like that off ebay for real cheap ($10).

it looks its age, no doubt, but i was just going to use it for my server config with SCSI RAID array, I was more interested in room than appearence.

Although vatstv, reading your post does give me some ideas.....

Have fun! tongue.gif

right, today i got my top window panel kit

oh dear look, i didnt check measurements. doh! tooo BIG

i measured angles and cut out a couple of bits out so now its all good

now i have run out of cutting baldes for my dremmel

now im gonna have to go out and buy a nibbler or something, so then i can carry on. i knew it would take more than one cutting disc but i went through 1 and a half of them, making a suitable groove in the top pannel, i am pretty good with a dremmel so i wasnt pressing too hard! its like 3mm thick of darn hard steel!

i think it is gonna look bad@$$ when its done
yatstv
right, the window is finished.

this was a @~@#~ @~@~# '~'~@~@~. and that doesnt even come close to how much the moulding annoyed me. it kept twisting off as soon as i put it on. it took me 4 and a half hours just to keep the moulding on and put the window in

so eventualy, i had this

DarkScorpion
looks awesome! Are you gonig to cut that front fan mesh out too?
yatstv
yeah, but it will be for housing the the rad on my watercooling. i think all i will need is a 1x 120mm rad as i wont be overclocking much, well at least to start with.
i was gonna go with 2x 120mm rad (thermochill one) but ive no room to house it.
Mangar
Now put a couple fans in that top window, like mine !! (searches through case gallery)
Iggy
Sweet! That thing is gonna be kickass when it's done. Definitely a good project.
Nerm
I really like it. nice modding skills! I especially like the key idea for power. very nice.
