I just bought 2 5mm blue leds from frozencpu. i was going to used them for my power and hdd led but neither one of them work. I was wondering if by chance both of them are bad or if someone could tell me what might be wrong.

Which sided did you hook up to the (+) and which side to the (-)? How much voltage did you apply to them?
chevy_z71
All I did was unplug the original led's from my motherboard and then put the new ones in it place.

Did they ever light up when you hooked them up? Even for 1mil sec?
chevy_z71
No, I never even got a flicker out of them.

My guess would be that you hooked them up backwards, or they are bad.
chevy_z71
I guess they are bad because i tried hooking them up almost everyway possible and they would never work. Do you think that there is something that I did wrong or is it likely that both of them would be bad.

Well, if you tried hooking them up several different ways, it's most likely that you blew the LED.... They tend to do that when hooked up backwards.

It is also possible that there was to much current for them, or that they were just bad.... with out testing them at the begining, I can't really say...

ya, check the box or what ever they came in and look at the volts cuse it the volts are a lot higher on the mother bored it would just burn out but if it was just a little higher then it would light up and then burn out. that happened to me with my mouse cause the mouse is 5 volts and my led was 2.5 volts and the metal started melting so i jus put in a x-mas light in it. so ya check the volts on the bored.

They just came in a platic bag with some other stuff that i ordered and i looked on the website and it didn't tell what they were either. So you think that more than likely i blew the lights?
Psywar
yeah prolly just blew it..
look at it clostly and see if u can see smoke color on the clear lense..

if it looks a tad dark or smoky color u prolly blew it..

go to www.case-mod.com and buy somemore for like 99 cent..

soem motherboards have different voltages than that of a standard led ... my hd light works fien with a 5v led but not the power... power requires that of a 3v led
