I bought a case that came with a 450w PSU. This has to be the most generic PSU ever, the manufacturer seems to be (A Power??). I am on my third one (under warranty).

This has probably been asked a many times but wink.gif , I need a good replacement, something with rock steady voltages. Give me some ideas, I want to stay above 400w.

hey just chect the fcc number..make sure its not a refrigerator or somthing

it may sound funny but i kid you not some companies do that..theyll make it in china slap a random fcc number on it and sell it in the states for about a 10000% profit

my friend acaull had one...it turned out the fcc thinks it was a microwave..go figure

Can't go wrong with anything Enermax, they're the only PSU I use.

Here's a good 431w: Newegg

And my personal Favorite, the 550w: Newegg

I'm quite happy with my Thermaltake PSU... (see sig) it comes with all the cables sleeved... also has a window mod on it and dynamic interior coloured lights!!!

oh yeah and the psu fan can be controlled by temperature or fan controller (2-way controller included) and comes with an additional 80mm radial blower (bit too noisy for me)

has a nice safety cut-out... shorted my pc a few times thanks to a cheap fan controller with exposed pcb... psu just turned off and i had to unplug the mains to un-trip the safety-switch!

Quiet on low, shifts loads of air on high... nice.

withstupid.gif thats where my vote is too. Also the Antec "True Power" series are very good.

I just picked this (http://www.xoxide.com/polo121.html) up for my new rig, and like someone commented on the thermaltake PSU a few posts before mine, it comes with sleaved wires, a 120mm case fan, a CPU HS/F and controls to regulat RPM on the powersupply fan (120mm), CPU HS/F and 120mm case fan. I can't really comment on the reliability as I just started using it, but I can answer any other questions you have on it.

meh, this article:
Getting the Right Power: 15 PC Power Supply Units
is a bit old, but it includes some of the brands mentioned and more importantly goes into detail about the essential features and characteristics of a good psu...

I'll attest to the quality of Antec PSU's. I love my Truepower 430...rock stable voltages even under heavy load, tons of connectors, and it's quiet as heck due to the thermally controlled fans.
