Double bill on Fridays at 11pm, starting Friday 11 June 2004

Watching The Prisoner is like being cracked across the head with the Venus de Milo. It's hard not to be very surprised and somewhat dazed, but you have to admire the beauty of the thing...

ain't no sixties hippy kid! laugh.gif

but funny you should mention that cos BBC4 (a fairly new digital channel) has just started re-running it from last friday, double bills apparently... might have to check it out! smile.gif

Oh man,it's a great show.Patrick McGoohan plays a guy who tries to get out of some British secret sevice(MI6? dunno).Well,I guess he knows too much,so at the beginning of each episode he gets hit with knockout gas, and wakes up in "The Village",where everybody has a name instead of a number (see "The Prisoner" by Iron Maiden). The Village is on an island, and anyone that attempts to escape is chased down by a giant howling plastic ball(!) and suffocated.

The Village looks like a resort, but it's sinister at the same time.

The Prisoner is #6,and as he attempts to get to the bottom of the situation in The Village he is thwarted at every step by "#2",who is the de facto authority in The Village. There is a different #2 for each episode (26 episodes I think).

The identity of #1 is revealed in the last episode.
