I'd have to agree. When I first built my system I thought a good PSU didn't matter cause it was just power. But I recall that sound, it did it once and then it died... completely. Now it's on a shelf jealous of the working Antec True480.

yes but mine only does it sometimes, and when it does that it's only at startup, is their any danger to my system?( the power supplie is still working)
kobalt
If it has surge and inrush protection you might be ok but i wouldn't trust a faulty PSU, your whole system might fry
A cheap "good working one" is around $40 dry.gif

Try uplugging the AC Cord and hitting the power button a bunch of times to discharge the capicators. Then plug it back in and see if it still does it. Perhaps it needed "recharged" more likely, its dying. Sorry man.

yeah...mine's been doing that for about 2 months now...it was a really high-pitched noise, and it goes off after i turn on the pc, and about 20 minutes into the os, it starts doing it again.
