you could score the glass with something sharp and try to break it

GLASS?
or
Plexiglass?
if its glass, then umm take it somewhere.
if its plexi then jsut cut it carfully, use a sharp knife and score it, then cut it out.

If it is GLASS, then you can buy a "glass cutter" at any hardware store for a few bucks. It's just a stick like thing with a small wheel on one end and a few notches to snap the glass with (if at the edge of piece) You score it with the wheel, and tap it(break), works pretty clean too.

if its in the middle jsut take it in to be cut though.

If you're making a straight cut, try it, you can always get another piece if you screw it up. (if you haven't cut glass before, you probably will screw it up) If you're trying for a hole or freeform shape, that's usually beyond the reach of an ordinary glass cutter and requires some skill.

tap it and a window with the same object and see if it sounds the same but if this is in a case i am going to say its plexi and a holesaw with a drill and some paitence should be all you need

PUT MASKING TAPE DOWN ON THE SURFACE BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY CUTS!!!!!
This will help make your cut (or drilling) cleaner and much more professional looking and help keep the surface from cracking due to any stresses you may put upon it. Also, cut at a LOW speed. Let the bit or blade do the work, otherwise you'll just melt it the plexi instead. and most importantly...TAKE YOUR SWEET TIME!

WHATS THIS MADNESS? A 1.8 @ 3.15? Is this a typo? What cooling? sounds like your coming system and my "in the mail" water cooling setup should meet, AND PARTY HARD!

haha sounds like they should get a room

i used a soldering iron to melt/cut holes in my case, a lot of fumes, a fair bit of filing after, but no chance of cracking

and no money if you've already got a soldering iron (ie no holesaw bits or dremel whatevers)

Yes, and if it is plexi, go ahead and tape the whole thing, you can scratch plexi just by looking at it.

I mask it and use the jigsaw.Just remember to hold the panel firmly and cut slowly.I like to take the jigsaw close to my line and clean it up with the Dremel. If you don't have a Dremel you could probably find a cheap drum sanding attachment for the drill.Hand-sanding is the budget option.
Soldering iron?Watch those fumes.....melt a hole in your brain.

yeah, admittedly it was hard work, probably would need a ventilator-mask or whatever they're called... i just opened all the windows, did it a bit at a time, and turned away to breathe...
can't wait to start my masters... i'm thinkin i can get some sorta access to the massive metal/plastics/ceramics-shop and go to town making custom enclosures and mods!

(been fantasising about that for a while now! heh heh)

if it's on a computer, i highly doubt it's actual glass. go out to home depot, lowes, or a hardware store, and buy a holesaw. hook it up to your drill and have a go.
