researching on here whats needed and required i run into 2 differences. alot of people swear by Antec and enermax and then i run into posts about people who go with nothing less than at least 25a on the 12v line.....

400 watts minimum is what people are being told. but 25a@12v is found on something near 500 watts and more.

im gonna run 2 optical drives, dvd-r/cd-r & cd-rw
2 80 gig sata WD drives raid-0 @16
a floppy.
a 9800 pro video
and what looks more likely to be an IC7 max3 and a 2.8c stepped and slightly OC'd chip (3.4) with a gig of mem once i finally round up the required monies (2 step money process, shell-power-drives, then the guts when i save up again)
there will be no funky lights.
and aparently about 5 fans. (all 80's, front-side-top,2 back.....its efficiently laid out with a blowhole) + the heatsink and vid card fan.

just how many amps on the 12v line will i need for all that? what supplys that will run this will also have sata connectors and separate power lines for the vid card and such?

and will 16a work form that antec 450 PSU?
what about that epower 450 jaguar? seems like a good piece of muscle.

a 400w froma good company will be sufficient

well using that link above, it looks like 387 watts required.
so given possible extras with the future possible growth of "da system" id say 400 absolute minimum and 450 would most likely be the best choice.

i guess since everyone seems to really have a thing for at least 15a on the 12v line, then whatever i can find with the most amps on that line for 450 watts...that also happens to be a good supply. ill prolly get the Antec but i might actually go for that epower jaguar...any one against that choice? reasons? currious...feed me back mon!

well i run all my stuff on a 450 kingwin and that link says i need a 467 watt psu so i mite think about getting a new one myself

get a 420 or 450 , for later upgrades

yeah you will want a hoss, my 400 refuses to start my system anymore, unplug about 3 hdds and a burner, along wiht my 120 fan and it works fine

well i went with the 420w thermaltake:
18a on the 12v.
i think itll be a good one.
the 2xWD 80 satas take both types of power connectors so it plugs in just fine with standard ones, no funky lights or special items here.
went with samsung CD drives (reportedly good, solid and quiet). and the case fans sported are:

1x80 (antec, in front at the HDD's)
2x92 (in side, out top)
1x120 (out back, antec smartfan)

i think if i added another HD and CD i might consider a larger PSU but honestly ill just cross that bridge when i get there. (purchasing rest soon)

2 raptors, Amd xp 2200+, A7n8x dlx, pc 3200 512 mb, 1 cd-rw,9800 pro AIW, volcano 12, my case( front LCD panel & light) 2 sets of CCF's ( rarely used) and like 11 case fans and i still get 12.32, 5.14, 3.3,
