Hi all, I am a regular to this website but new to the forums. I have done some Major upgrading (Psu, CPU, HDD, Motherboard) I am having MAJOR problems with instability even with CPU underclocked a bit. I get blue screens with different errors (not sure what the errors are because they flash to fast to read) I RMA'ed my HDD and my Motherboard and am still getting errors. took many times to get XP to install correctly. My question is what is the -5.00 volts for on the PSU. I got everything to run finally and got motherboard monitor 5 to run and it is showing +.38 volts for the -5.00 that its supposed to be. Any ideas? Is this my problem? Any help would be greatly Appreciated.

if I remember correctly.. (which is rare for me!) it is legacy for older PCI and ISA cards....

I do know it is normal for it to read really weird numbers....

i think your problem lies elsewhere, what video card drivers are you using?, and (or) raid controller do you have?

wow with a system like that its hard to belive it doesnt perform underclocked. by definition that should be running at about Pc3200+ or more.

umm. it might be your PSU is busted or something. i see no problems.

also dont base yourself on MBM 5. base yourself on BIOS readings.

I just installed an Enermax Noistaker (370W) and noticed that Motherboard Monitor detects my voltages as:

Core 0: 1.73 V
Core 1: 1.25 V
+3.3: 3.33 V
+5.00: 5.08 V
+12.00: 12.40 V
-12.00: -12.27 V
-5.00: 3.60 V

Take a look at the last line, "-5.00" is 3.60? Does that mean it's way off? After installing the PSU, my BIOS freezes at the "Hardware Monitor Setup" screen (where the temperatures and fan speeds are listed). Is this somewhat related?

I replaced this 370W with my old 300W PSU, so there should be plenty of juice in the new PSU to power everything in the system.

Any help appreciated.
