Hey all,

OK The time has come with which I must invest in a new case. I am looking to spend no more than $50 and I don't need a psu. Basically my case is on it's last leg, I've had it for two years and it has served me well, however I need a new one. I just bought some UV CCFL's (2 of the high brightness 29000cp or something) and I think I'm going to go with a UV theme, but I could also use ideas on that as I have a nice, bright blue CCFL already.

I want a case $50 and under because I'm going to spend a pretty penny modding the thing. I do not want a floppy on the front and I would prefer it be built of alluminum, but steel is ok. Now some of you may ask, does this include shipping? Yes, it has to, I don't have a load of cash to spend right now. sad.gif That's what college does to you. Anything midtower and above is ok, I currently have a Chieftec Server Tower, and the thing is huge. I'm looking for something slightly smaller. I do not need more than three 5 1/4" drive bays and no more than 2 3 1/2" drive bays.

Other than that, please help me find something, I have searched all over and cannot find any case that pleases me. The one case I would like is in the UK and it has a nasty floppy on the front. Anyways, a window pre-installed would be nice too, but not necessary. Let me know if you can help and thank you in advance! smile.gif

Crazy PC
Has a selection of premodded, lianli, ect. might find what you're looking for.

50 bucks isn't enough imo. It's worth it to save for a couple of weeks, mow some lawns or whatever, get something from Lian-Li. I like the PC-61, but the PC-65 has a window like you mentioned.

I'd suggest strongly going aluminum, every time I get a steel case I regret it. Perhaps look for a used case since your budget is so low. If you have to get a new case for 50 bucks shipped you'll find yourself with very few options.

I've seen a couple of cheap chen-ming aluminum cases on newegg lately, take a look there.

Thank you for the links, but I was hoping for specific case suggestions.

Actually I do have a job, my budget is $50 bucks though, I've spent too much (RAM, 9800pro, other stuff) to spend much more on this computer. I have looked through newegg and xpcgear.com and crazypc and a few other sites, but havn't found anything useful yet.

You mentioned looking for a used case... is there a company that distributes them? I remember a Thermaltake case in the "For Sale" section but the user never replied to my post... dry.gif

Anyways, thanks again for the help I hope my requirements don't discourage you from helping me... smile.gif Sorry if I'm stiff on this, I just don't want to spend too much on something I'm going to tear apart to mod anyways tongue.gif

if thats what your looking for, i have an AMS case and its actually a higher quality case than the lian-li PC-6089 that i had. thicker material, no sharp edges at all, and you cant tell by the picture but that window is about 1/4" thick. and it only cost $37 plus 10 to ship. i dont remember where i got it but check out pricewatch. heres a pic of it stock. its called the gMono and they come in black, silver and white.

some ripped a case design off lol, either them or aspire one. cause that case looks a lot like my x-dreamer.

except for the temp lcd and power buttons, their somewhat similar.
Sly_C
very much so.
marsx69
Yep verrrry similar. Cept the intake holes on the front of the x dreamer are alittle higher so the intake fans have a better time breathing. (Kindof important, the whole airflow thing.) Course you could mod that case and give it a bit more vent on the front.
Seth_Man
something like this you mean.
marsx69
Yeah, I suppose that could work. dry.gif
