So i got this case off a buddy and I thought it came with usb 2.0 front panel hook ups but I guess not. Whhen I turn on usb 2.0 in the bios of my NF7-S and I try to plug anything into them nothingwill connect propperly, but when I use 1.1 then they work fine. I see they come out rather easly but can't find usb 2.0 connecitons for thihs case heres a pic of what I'm tlaking about

USB, 1.0 and 2.0 both use the same connections dude
you may need to install the Windows USB drivers. Check the Windows update, and/or the CD that came with your Mobo.

they use the same connections but have diferent cables, on the mother board, and at the external connection, the conneciton is the same, but I think the cable form my mopther board to the front of the case is 1.1 only. all though I would love to be proved wrong on this fact PLease
I have onboard usb ports on the back of my computer and a pci usb slot that pugs into my mother board(that came with the board) they work fine, when I have it in usb 2.0 mode, and device I plug into them work fine, but when I try to use the front ones, nothing will install though them. but when I use 1.1 all of them work fine

OK, The connector has NOTHING to do with versions. USB 1 and 2 use the exact same connetions,
ok... What do the connectors for the front USB look like, Cause I have a case Where ever Wire has its own connector, and if you get them crossed, then they wont work,,, But you are Saying that one type works and the other doesn....
But her is the Thing, the difference lies in the USB controller Chip, the hardward for the connections is all the same. For backwards compatability. I went the store where I go for all my parts and have done some research. The connections are the same.
You must have connected something wrong... Can you post pics of the connections on the cable and the mobo?

BeatRyder: You're right that they use the same connector, but there is still a difference between a 1.1 and a 2.0 plug. It's like how you can get usb 1.1 hubs and usb 2.0 hubs...it's all about how much data can go through the connection at one time. A good example that is like this is IDE cables. All IDE cables have the same connections, but they have different speed ratings. Some can only go up to ata33, some can go up to ata133, and so on.

If usb 1.1 devices work just fine, then it is not wired up wrong. It sounds like that connector simply cannot handle the speed of a usb 2.0 connection.

Check the manual for your mobo, it may be that you have to sacrifice the extra usb on the back for the ones on the front

Can you connect USB 2.0 devices to the ports on the back of your mobo? If not, the drivers probably arent installed correctly (or you got a bad mobo).

Well, I would suggest that you disconnect the ones in the PCI slot, and hook up the ones in the front, I had to do that with my rig. It was a mobo limitation.

i do believe it is your drivers, because the only diff between 1.1 and 2.0 is the controller, not the wires or plugs, install SP1 and then install your usb 2.0 drivers, works every time
