I don't see how you can really fry it on water cooling. Did it just stop working or was there smoke coming from it? It could have just 'seized up' for a little bit. Mine does that when I OC too much and crash it

This is what had happened. I had my amd 2700+ running at 2.3 true mghz ( 14 X 166) 1.75v and the Controller card on my koolance case went out and that made the pumps not work so the cpu just melted into the mother board.. The Swiftech Water block as so hot i couldnt touch it at all luckily the tubing didnt melt or my new Audigy 2 sound card would have got messed up as well. I had to let it cool down for like an hour before i could remove the Water block.. I also had to buff the burn spots off my copper base of my Swiftech 5000 CPU waterblock. Luckily my Ram and video card were not affected. but the motherboard and the processor were toast i couldnt even pull the CPU out of the Socket. it was ridiculus.... So i guess it is time to update to the 64 bit amd processor... well I need some ideas on some good motherboard / cpu combo's that yall would recomend. My budget for the CPU and motherboard is about 800 dollers..

Don’t mean to sound harsh in time of crisis but it is really all your fault. You should have had it set in the BIOS so that the PC shut down when it got over 60C. I had an experience similar to yours but with air cooling when my fan went out no harm to the CPU or anything. The PC would have had plenty of time to shut down before the temp got fetal.

True^^ but what happened, happened no need to rub it in
At least you have the money to get some new parts

id highly suggest a nf2 board thery have protection measures that turns the power off if the cpu reaches a certain temp. everyone seems to be raving about the dfi lanparty and there infinity, then you have abit, asus and chaintech versions too. for the cpu your looking at all the bartons being locked, so you might neeed some good pc3200 or 3500 ram. mate that with a 2500+ and 2300mhz shouldnt be a problem. i just got a locked 2500+ that is humming along @2480mhz 11x225 fsb 1.95 volts on air B) to give you a idea of how there clocking now. thats if you want to keep your watercooling setup?
