Hey guys!

This evening I rapidly took an interest in Auto-Tuned vocals, specifically the T-Pain effect (Here's an example, which comes out alot better than you might think; Auto-Tune the News =P).

I don't know, I've always liked electronic sounds but never really liked the genres of music that use them. Strange I know, considering I sing in a rock band and don't really even need to auto-tune my vocals. Just felt it would be cool to mess around with =P

I know there's a paid option I can get which immediately gives me everything on a silver platter, but I feel it's something I'd use very little, thus I was wondering if there are any tried-and-tested free versions or software + plugin configurations that would give me this kind of effect. If not, it's not a big problem at all. Just feel like messing around with my voice

I think the effect used by t-pain is a type of "vocoder" ... specifically a digital one called "auto-tune". Wiki refers to auto-tune as a "phase vocoder". If you look at the bottom of the vocoder wiki page (linked below) there is a list of digital vocoders. One of them is "fruity vocoder" which I bet is part of or an addon too fruity loops (linked last) which you can full trial free I think. Now you take care of the rest of the information finding!
