Hey guys..

Anyway while troubleshooting what the problem is with my video card which keeps blacking out and making the system unresponsive, EVGA told me it might be my power supply.

They said they need a +12V rail with 36amps, and indeed, my PSU has 3 +12V rails each with 18A.

Can someone tell me if this is a problem or not?

what is your psu , your card gtx 260 requires about 550w ,

if your psu is good quality and it is 500w or more then contact evga again ...smile.gif

good luck...smile.gif
ccokeman
What PSU do you have?
TheConqueror
Oh sorry, i thought I put my PSU in my sig

Its a OCZ StealthXStream 700W
wildman2
Prolly the ram.Why are you running triple channel ram? That OCZ should handle it fine.
TheConqueror
I am only using 2 of the 3 sticks
ccokeman
That PSU should be fine. Does it only happen in 3d apps? Do you have another VC to validate the theory or another system you can put it into to check it?
Bosco
That PSU will power your system with no problems if it is working correctly.

Well the black screen only happens on boot now, which I can live with. Downgrading to the 186.18 drivers really helped.

Since you're getting those black screens during boot, it's a hardware problem. If you've got any spare cards around, switch out the 260 with it and see if you still get black screens. If you do, it's something with the power supply, if not, it's the card.

Actually the black screens seem to smoothed themselves...

All i know is there is something extremely weird going on, might ask EVGA to replace my card or something
