Update 1
Lucky me!! I just received an email from Newegg saying my case had arrived and would be shipped within 48 hours thumbs-up.gif Pleasant surprise, considering it had been listed as an ETA of September 25th because the first order had sold out. Guess some folks cancelled, woot for me.

The Smith: Thanks. I'm buying parts as the money comes in. I probably won't get the card till January-ish, depending on finances, but this is a long term project anyway.
Baulten
Case was shipped today! Should be here Tuesday, woot.
Baulten
First pictures! It's of the case cathodes and the new DVD burner

Sony Optiarc Black:

Logisys 12" Red Cold Cathodes:

Sorry for the subpar image quality. It's hard to get a decent image in the dorms... Maybe I'll take some photos of the case outside when it comes in.
hardnrg
Since I doubt anyone wants to print your photos, it would be a good idea to resize your 10MP pics to something more sensible like 1280x960 or smaller, so that they are easily viewable on everybody's screen when viewed @ 100%, and also they won't take so long to load

(I'm on a 16 Mbps connection, and I would say they load slowly, also, the quality @ 100% is horrendous, maybe you should shoot the pics @ 5MP or something, or increase the quality settings)
Baulten
Haha, sorry, I didn't realize they were so large. I took them quickly with a friend's camera. I've gotta mess with the settings to get some better quality.

I'm uploading resized picture right now. The rest of the parts will be taken in much better quality, I assure you.

Edit: Resized the pictures. Now they don't look quite as crappy.

More parts! EK 100 mL Res, silver plated fittings, and Swiftech MCR 320 thumbs-up.gif

MOAR PIX!
Baulten
Haha, there won't be much moar till Wednesday, when the case comes in. I am also waiting on my sleeving to arrive from MDPC wink.gif But towards the end of this week, there will be many pics! In the meantime, here's a quick sketch of how I plan to set the loop up:

If anyone has alternate suggestions, please, shoot them my way. I don't want to interrupt the airflow from the bottom of the case, so I'm trying to avoid that.

Another update. I ended up impulse buying a 1 TB MyBook Western Digital external hard drive at Best Buy. It was $65! I couldn't turn it down! It's technically a mac drive, so I had to format it, but that was easy enough:

And some pictures of the tubing I got:

Baulten
Here are the promised pictures! I do not yet have pictures of the completed build; you'll have to wait until my sleeving arrives and I finish sleeving stuff. Okay, I might post some pictures of it as is... but not tonight wink.gif

Some shots of the case:

Comparison of my Cooler Master RC 690 to it:

Fitting the res and pump:

I apologize for the quality... this case was difficult to photograph. It's black AND it shines a bit wink.gif

The other part of this update is I will be buying motherboard, CPU, and RAM next week. Long story short, got a killer deal on a Phenom II 965, and found someone to buy my old motherboard, CPU, RAM, and power supply. So by next weekend hopefully I'll be able to fit the new motherboard and get some results.
Andrewr05
Looks awesome!
Baulten
Thanks! It looks even better completed. I had only one small leak which is now fixed. The res wasn't screwed together tight enough!

Just to give an idea of the improvement over air, at stock, I went from 33C idle to 27C idle and 50C max load to 36C max load. At 1.4V and 3.6GHz (which is far less than I required on air), I was at 33C idle and 42C full load. Even at 1.52V and 3.8 GHz, I only hit 46C max load. Considering I couldn't even boot windows at that frequency before, let alone stress test (it did fail after ~20 minutes) for any length of time, I'm impressed.

Geekspeak411
would you be so kind as to email me the obsidian pics to chrish@overclockersclub.com because I am not able to see in forum pics smile.gif I am looking very seriously at the 800D so have oyu had any issues etc. that you would care to share? Anything that suprised you? Thanks a ton!
Baulten
I will sometime... I'm busy with class and studying and stuff; exams next week >< I'm also down a camera at the moment... so taht's why I has no updates.
damian
jesus, this is gonna be one sick build!
Baulten
I promise I'll have pics after next Tuesday... that's my last of the first set of exams this semester, then I'll have a bit of free time.
Baulten
Hrm, I appear to have fibbed on when I'd get new pics up. Fail on my part, due to far too much work all semester. Things are winding down and I've got some updates for you patient folks! This is just a straight copy and paste from my worklog over at XS.

Well, it's been quite some time since I posted any updates, and I apologize for that. But, it's about time. First off, what's been going on: I've been busy as *insert string of vulgarities that would get me banned biggrin.gif* this semester. Having time to work on my computer, let alone take pictures, crop and resize them, and upload them, has been difficult to find.

Second, what's changed:

I picked up an HD 5870, EK Nickle Plated waterblock for it, a PA 120.2 24.5mm spacing, and a Typhoon III bay res. I grabbed 2 Scythe S-Flex 1900 RPM fans, since GentleTyphoon 1450 RPM and 1850 RPM are out of stock, or incredibly expensive, everywhere.

Third: PICTURES!!!!

Fitting the radiator down below. With the shroud, it was a tight damn fit!!

Waterblock mounted on the video card:

Since you never got them before, some shots of the HK on my board. I switched out the 90 degree rotaries with some 45 degree rotaries. The 90s are going to go down on the radiator... since I need them in order to NOT kink the tubing.

Baulten
Some shots of the sleeving; turned out pretty good in my opinion:

Ran most of the tubing; I can't do the rest until I get some G3/8 to G1/4 adapters for the radiator sad.gif

Baulten
Annnd last updates; I actually switched the setup down below. The fans sat far too close to the divider, which would kill airflow. I mounted the fans inside the shroud to get better airflow. Still waiting on 3/8 to 1/4 adapters for the ThermoChill rad, stupid USPS. It's been 3 days!!!
deluded_reality
Mann, it's so beautiful. I just wanna look at those pics forever. Great job!
Baulten
Thanks! I'm no pro photographer and I don't have a good camera (stole my friend's for the shots). I'll have more pics after I get the fittings... tomorrow... sigh.
ccokeman
Nice looking build!
Fatedmeeting
Good handiwork there. Red is faster, right? tongue.gif
crowTrobot
