I noticed the active OCC folders has dropped to 100! sad.gif

It was up around 130 a couple of months ago.

Maybe we need another competition?

Cheers

I'm still chugging along!

Summer heat combined with higher energy cost will contribute to reduced folders...
Crazy_Nate
When I get all moved and consistent internet, I'll be folding again smile.gif
hardnrg
No job and no working desktop rig (for much time) means I've not been folding for a long time, probably over a year now :/
tkrow21
I decided to turn on the AC and turn off the folding. sad.gif

$500 electric bills have caused me to cut down the amount of rigs I have running during the summer months. In the summer tha AC and pool eat up my folding energy budget.

$500 electric bill. Thats quite an energy budget you've got going? Is electricity that expensive where you live or do you have a lot of rigs going? Or you live in a mansion with a secret lair underneath.
ccokeman
Wife that does not work, Mother in law with the TV on all day, Pool, Koi pond, 5 computers running 3 actively folding and AC to cool 2000 Sq ft. Our power company is pretty pricey especially in the summer months.
Kash
I quit folding when I started paying the electric bill. I've got lots of spare cycles on my rig, but simply no way of paying for it. If I wanted a higher electric bill I would much rather get it by running the A/C than by folding.
bishop245
i have a hard time working on my own comps now days but i have my gtx275 chuggin along and may over the next few weeks get a 8800gtx and a 8600 going if i get my brothers comp and my media rig going
d3bruts1d
I've left my PS3 on and folding, but that's all I've got now. The PCs in the house hardly ever get turned on anymore.
kingdingeling
They rig's been off for a while, summer means it's been turning my room into a sauna (I live right under the roof).
psycho_terror
i got tired of my GPU constantly crashing, and my new CPU runs a little too hot for me to be comfortable folding on it.

i'll probably get back into it when i get a new card.
DLS2008
Came home from college and don't want to run the electric bill up at home so now just my laptop fold. I dropped about 10K PPD by not folding on my desktop. The summer months see a large drop in folders.
tjmagneto
I've been shutting down once in a while as it's been 100+ around here and I'd rather have the A/C going since the kids are home from school. I'm not running my GPU2 card at the moment either.
CheeseMan42
I shut down in the summer because of the heat. I fire it up in the winter because of the cold.
paulktreg
I run two GPU clients in winter because of the cold and one in summer because of the cold! laugh.gif

I can appreciate summer temperatures and utility bills are a problem.

foldon.gif .. when you can.

Cheers

That's basically the same for me, except for me, it was "I quit when I stopped splitting the power bill five ways." tongue.gif

Roommates do have their up-sides.

I put a couple on folding also... thumbs-up.gif

I am folding, took a break for a month or so and now started up again last month. I just broke 100,000 points actually.
tacohunter52
I'm folding but have been stock in the same place for a long long time. Probably, because I've only got one rig folding right now though. tongue.gif

Those new big WUs rock, average around 25,000 ppd with the bonus with an i7 at 3.8Ghz or more. I got 7-i7s running now, 2-8800gt and 4 quads. Had 8 i7s running but sold one yesterday. I could turn on another 100,000 ppd but I am waiting on winter time for that...

This is my favorite for our statistics (who's that snazzy fellow with the 12th spot) My Q9450 folds nonstop and then I add on whatever video card I have, but never folded with my 4870x2 while I had it. I occasionally use my laptops 9600M GT if I want to get a little extra push. I haven't folded on my PS3 in a few months now since my dad says that makes a huge impact on our electric bill, but since my computer is used alot he doesn't mind.

Mine folded pretty damn nicely...it just ate a lot of power doing it. Getting the second GPU to fold wasn't too horrible; it just took a bit of effort.

ya I was too lazy to get the second core running, I tried 2 different methods with setting GPU flags in the shortcuts and neither worked for me closedeyes.gif

Rebooting between setting the flags worked for me. It didn't make much sense but it worked. tongue.gif

i don't get it ivi_ how come your stat sheet shows me at 44 and the official sheet has me at like 59 or something ?

I haven't folded in quite a while. I'll see if I can fire up a few rigs.

Hmm never tried something that simple, I would just set it back once I realized it wasn't working immediately

Hey cj,

There's a difference between your line position (among all active folders), and your position with all points taken into account (including inactive folders). smile.gif

44 is your line position, and 59 is your actual point position.

Still folding here but I've been too lazy to finish installing the new cooler on my 2nd 275 video card.

QFT. I use the systems to heat the rooms in winter. Energy bill with 24hr running also makes me cringe. Too bad I can't fold for fusion research to get free/dirt cheap energy then cures foldon.gif thumbs-up.gif

I had to cut back on Folding a little bit during the hottest days. Now, I'm back at full speed, with the PS3 steaming along as well.
tkrow21
Summer is coming to a close.

My rig is currently folding.
tjmagneto
This will hopefully be the last day of 100 degree weather here.

I finally got my AC cooler put on my second 275 and will shove that bugger back in to my PC in the next day or so. It was a major pain in the you know what to mod to fit my 275 but it works great. Way cooler and quieter now.
XxHellxRaizerxX
Our house is pretty efficient so I'm able to fold still. So I'm still chugging away on my main rig and the HD 2400 upstairs smile.gif
xly15
I have started folding again. My main folds when I am attending classes. It is better than it sitting there idle.
kingdingeling
Stopped folding when I started paying the electric bills myself...
IVIYTH0S
my 8800GT is going to help give our team a little boost, as it probably doubled my output to say the least
