Special_K
why do you want to go with wood? just wondering. what do you plan to do with it? you got all the parts?
Sainou-Kun
what the heck man, I hope you have an entire shop in your house or something...

I think its an awesome idea. Wooden cases look very nice in certain environments. For example, a wooden case would look great in our living room.

If I were you I'd head out to a computer store and take measurements from one of the cases there. That'll give you a good place to start. smile.gif

And just think...you won't have to worry about having something short out. biggrin.gif

Sounds cool man, just make sure you take precise measurements of an actual case to make sure the pci slots line up right and stuff like that.

you could also take the easyway out and get a case and just cover it with wood.

If you want to go the cheap way you could always glue wood on to the case, only leaving the back with a duct for air and a small duct in the front.

omg, lol. i was thinking the same thing when i saw the topic title wink.gif

You know what would be really badass? If you were a sculptor, you could make a case out of marble! Now THAT would be cool smile.gif
Ghost2520
That would be cool... I wonder if anyone has done that?

no but if you go here: http://www.directron.com/blackcasearts.html you'll see something kinda cool, also if you want wood... : http://www.directron.com/knottyburl.html. maybe one of these cases would be the way to go...

I could just imagine a PSU or CPU start frying, catch the wood on fire, and just see fireballs of electronics spattering all over the carpet smile.gif
megajuz3003
well i wanted to build a case out of wood so i could get it the way i want it without 50 billion other things i dont like so i started designing it t accommodate for th extra heat but dont have any ideas on building the frame so i can pull off the front and side panels.
Special_K

LOL right
Paranoid
Maybe use metal or plastic to attach the components to the case. That way the wood won't overheat and catch fire

If you're famalier with Making electric guitars, you could apply some of that theory to it. Alot of guitars are made of "ugly" wood and when a clear finish is disired a very thin slab of wood with the wanted grain and colouring is glued onto the existing body. Just get a metal case you like and goto town with it.

Here are some interesting links. The second one is in what so ever language, but the pics worth the look.
