So I'd like my case door to open up with the push of a button, I figure I could do that with a switch, some wire, a linear acuator and some hinges... (and a bit o welding)

I did some looking around with google and found some 8-12 inch ones for about 70$.. (12v dc)

Are there other better methods for self opening cases??? any guides or reccommendations on what to buy or even a kit???

thx

maybe you could get a power window actuator from the scrapyard?

They are huge and a total PITA to work with. I have replaced more then I would ever want to in three lifetimes laugh.gif

I have actually considered this mod myself. A DC linear actuator will be the cleanest and simpliest method.

Agreed 100%. Car windows don't use linear actuators and are a total PITA.

You'll need to think about balancing the load and minimizing obstruction, obviously the best place to lift is in the middle to reduce torsion on the mount, but the actuator will be in the way then...
