hey peeps, my more expensive lap top broke so i resorted to buying a cheap mobo that costed 300 dollars cos i really needed it on that week for a project. now i kinda wanna play some games on it and was thinking of buying a 4850 ati card to upgrade since the motherboard has an pci-e x16 slot

anyway this is the mobo

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=AM...A-R&cat=SYS

and i am pretty sure the psu is not enough to power, i think 115 - 230V is 500 w? but i think the amps on the v12 rails are 18 so won't be enough

so I am thinking of getting a new psu,

I am pretty sure this would run safely

but i kinda want a cheaper psu because I am a broke student

so i am wondering if this ll work:

i would be grateful for some help or any psu recommendations to go with it

It doesn't have enough PEG connectors for a 4850 does it? 8pin?

o the cheap 1, doesn't. woops didn't check tho the first option def does, the 4850 is a 6 pin. do you know anything cheaper that ll have it?

spend the extra $30 and get the corsair 550VX. I have this unit And I love it. It will power your rig plus that 4850 you want to get. Apevia is not such a great company. Xclio is only good if you get a greatpower or stablepower psu from them. I don't trust alot of the reviews on newegg.

Take your pick of these.

Or if you don't like rebates, you could very easily get an Antec True Power 550Watt (I use one and haven't had one issue/problem with it yet).

No need to go all out for a top of the line power supply for the kind of computer. Just buy the Antec Earthwatts 430w power supply, it will power the 4850 easily. It's really stable, efficient and the Earthwatt power supply are really great for their price.

EDIT: By the way the computer is not called the motherboard, that's just one of many parts of a "computer" wink.gif
