Ok, so you take a clear case, put some clear spacers on the outside of it, then mount color LCD's all over the thing, link the LCD's to some...thing. I don't know what, maybe the computer but I dunno how that would work, so they can display pictures, colors, paterns, whatever, and write a program to run them so you can constantly change and do screensavery things with cascading colors and waves and pictures and objects that move between the LCD's. Then over the LCD's, put more spacers and more clear acrylic panels over the LCD's with some space in between the two so you get glaring and blurring and glowing effects.

I wonder if anyone has done anything like this before? It seems like a simple idea in theory, obviously a really complicated and no doubt expensive project, but imagine a case that constantly was changing colors and paterns and all sorts of crap, wouldn't that be incredible? Someone do this and pay me money for royalties. tongue.gif

Are you talking about have them do something like those pre programed Christmas lights that can flash in different ways? and they're called LED's
Kenichisan
Not LED's, LCDs, Liquid Crystal Display. Get some small square LCD's, maybe 2x2" or something (you'd have to search for them, but I know they exist) and mount them on to the case with a little space inbetween the back of them, and the side of the case, put them all over the case like tiles, and then you could do whatever you want with them with the right program.

Oh i get it now... i thought you said that this would be simple in theory, my head is already hurting from the thought of it, and the program would be pretty hard to make im sure and where would you plug these things into? these are all things that you need to think about, and im sure it would probably use lots of electricity too
Kenichisan
Well the idea is kinda simple, make a PC that can display things, but actually doing it would be incredibly complicated, and the way I figure it, I saw on TechTV some proccessor company I know I should remember the name to that makes things like robot ping pong tables that you can control with PDA's and stuff like that with their chips and programs written for PDA's, and they were controling the ping pong table with a little LCD on one side of it and remotely with blutooth and a PDA, so if you could rig up something like that......It's complicated but crap would it ever be cool.....It's just a dream project, if I ever get rich I'll do it and rub it in all your faces. biggrin.gif

Well it does sound cool but i dont have the money or brains to figure out how to do it but if you ever do it post some pictures cause it would be awesome looking biggrin.gif

In theory you could make your computer screen on the side of your case. In which case it would be much simpler to just mount a full size LCD display on the side of your case.

If you did it all over your case though, that would be pretty intense if you could make moving pictures, or a new case 'paint' every day. Make your case into one gigantic optical illusion by taking a picture of the blank space where it will be, and then masking it with that picture as the 'skin'

If only I had the money and the know how. That'd be ultra-cool

Yea that would be pretty savage, but how would you connect and run video to all of them? thats one huge VGA splitter!

LCD screens do not use that much electricity, this would be very possible but it would take a lot of money to buy all the little screens.
