I currently own a dead PSU in my sig. I've attempted to RMA with no help from the Enermax team. SO I need a new psu. I have read the Giant PSU thread and was thinking about that OCZ 700w (cheaper than the 600w right now with rebate).
Basically I want to know if this is a good price/power for my machine. I will be upgrading to a opteron shortly and possibly a 8800GT 320 (I think they are only $115 right now). Also, will this be able to support a C2D rig in the future? I will probably end up converting or even building a new one once things come down in price and if i can use the same PSU I won't need to ask again for advice.
P.S. I will probably never run SLI/Xfire

the OCZ 700W would easily handle any single GPU card and C2D/C2Q system

Would you recommend anything cheaper for the stuff I mentioned?

When I rma'd my PSU, I'm pretty sure I dealt with Coolergiant, instead of Enermax directly.
I sent everything to California instead of overseas. I don't have all the emails, but I think I started the RMA process with Enermax, and was referred to Coolergiant because I bought the power supply in the US.
It seems Coolergiant's website is down. Couldn't hurt to give that a try, if/when things are back up and running. Maybe Enermax USA would be more help? I really don't know if things have changed since I went through the process.

You don't really need that power for you rig. 700 Watts is an over kill. Check out this one.....

While you can surely purchase less expensive power supplies right now for your short term needs, it sounds like you want to future proof yourself a bit too.
For that reason I'd highly recommend the OCZ GameXStream 700W psu. It is selling at a great price point right now, and it will probably tide you over through your next two or three builds. It is an outstanding unit.
Is it an overkill as Sunny states? For your current rig, yes. You could easily get by with even a quality 500W power supply. But if you want to make a one time investment in a power supply that can carry you forward, then the 700W OCZ is a solid choice.

Since the OP is thinking of upgrading to a C2D/C2Q, the 700W wouldn't really be overkill for the proposed upgrade.

Probably some time end of this year I'll build a C2D rig and use the old one as a HTPC. What I was thinking is getting that rebate now and rolling forward the 700w to my c2D rig and buying a cheaper one for the current build. I haven't seen PSU prices drop much since I built the rig in my signature so I figured take the discount while I can get it.
Any opinions?

You already have mine. All of the power supplies that have been recommended are truly great units, including the Corsairs.
I bought one of the first GameXStream 700W units that became available at retail, and I've been 100% satisfied with it. I'm currently running a Corsair TX750W, but I've kept my OCZ for backup. I wouldn't consider selling it at any price. If you need any higher endorsement than that, I'm not sure what to tell you.
