Hey all,

I've been working on this project at work for a few weeks now, as a side project, and it's almost finished!! It really doesn't have much to do with PC stuff, in fact nothing at all, but it is definitely in the spirit of DIY. Our chief tech wanted to just rack-mount these, but I told him it would be much cooler if they were in a box with a handle.

These microphone preamps came from an old RCA BC-2B. There's a BC-2B sitting on the desk in this pic.

The box didn't have any holes pre-drilled, so it was like working with a blank canvas.smile.gif

Here's a close up of the gain control and the switches on the front.
The switch with the resistors is the Pad.

The 2-channel mic-pre with the PSU.

I socket mounted the power for the mic-pres and put an IEC on for the A/C. It was just a terminal(death) strip before. Touch that thing in the wrong place and you and the circuit breaker go boom.

I still have some cosmetic work to finish up before it's officially finished. Like adding a pilot light to the box and the PSU so you can see when its on or off.

I figured since quite a few of you on here are pretty damn good with a drill and dremel and various other tools and mod work, I'd show you guys some of my handy work.

Thanks.

Here's a couple more pics.

pilot light and RCA badge.

PSU pilot light.

I probably won't be able to finish the labeling of the Pad and Phase switches until I get it back from the session its in. So I guess this will give me a chance to figure out what to do about the labels. I was kinda thinking about going with some little engraved plates bolted on under the switch. The faceplate itself has a rough surface so I'm pretty limited on what will actually work.
