I'm looking for something flashy and INCREDIBLY cheap to do. I have a stanard ATX case...and I want a windows or something stupidly small that still looks good.

Suggestions are GREATLY apprecaited.

u can actually do a good sized window for under $15. i think eagle did it. all u have to do is buy some plexi from home depote, cut the hole in ur case and put the plexi on the case. u could use glue, double sided tape, molding, screws, ect.

Yup it was under 15 dollars for my case to be done I'm working on getting some pictures up here. I used Acrylic (9$) from Home Depot and 3m Heavy Duty Double sided tape(4$), I just used a jig saw to cut the hole 13.5"x18" into my case then cut 10.5" off my 18"x24" peice of Acrylic then mounted to the back of my already cut case, using the double sided tape.

I'm working on putting a Guide together using this method, Radicom and I have succsessfully done this mod twice the first time we just did a rectangle shaped window the secon time we did a U shaped window around the handle built into the side of Radicom's case...

What about lighting? I want to put like rope lights around the window. I'm just thinking of putting the plug out the back through a PCI/ISA slot, are there are special lights or something else i should do?

Oh, and instead of a jigsaw, would a Dremel work to cut the side of the case? Thats the only tool i have that I could cut it.

A Dremel would be a 100 times better... And Theres no way you can do decent ligting for under another 20 dollars the cheapest thing to do is go to a car place and buy a 6" neon for around 15-20 bucks

The Rope lighting I saw at like Target or Wal-Mart or something was only like 10 bucks for 8 feet i think. I was just going to put it in and but put the plug out of the back through a hole one of two ways. I will take the little cover off of where a ISA or PCI card is normally and put it out., or I drill a hole in my case.

Your not talking about that think stuff they sell that looks like x-mas lights inside of a tube are you?

the stuff is thick and semi heavy..

Im sure it would light up the case well.. but you dont want that trust me..

go to meijer go in the car section find the neons uput in ur car.. cut the lighter adapter off of it.. pop on a 4 pin molex.. and wala.. a cheap neon..

Actually Crazy PC has Lazer LEDs for like 20 bucks.. those things really can light up a case..
and if ur willing to spend like money on 2..
put on at the top and one at the bottom... and you would be all set.. nice n bright..

Dont waste ur money on rope light.. I am almost sure you wont like it..thats what I basicly got mine for and I couldent do anything with it...

Thanks for the advice. I do have a Wal-Mart with a pretty big car section, so I think they would have the neon's, I'll try that.
