I've been working on a Custom acrylic PC case that I designed.

Case features a double sidewall to allow intake air without the need of front holes; also good for cable routing. Designed to hold 2 360mm Radiators; will only use one ATM with a Y-line loop. Stealthed CD slot; will wire the eject button and activity LED to an illuminated pushbutton to preserve the clean look of the front panel.

Here are some pics of the 3D model in it's current state. I'll update with pics of the actual build as well.

subscribed, looks great

This will be a full atx right?

Bigger LOL; otherwise it wouldn't be able to hold 2 360mm RADs

Outside dimensions are 60cmx30cmx55cm (HxWxD)

Has fill and drain ports for the H2O; can house 2 side-by-side D5s, so I could go to a dual-loop setup.

ATM I'm planning on just migrating my sig-rig over to the new case; but if I could get sponsors to donate newer hardware I'd be in heaven.

Edit: I just need to decide on/design the paint scheme. I'd like to have a Porsche Carrera GT across the top of the case (blended onto front/sides). If anyone is highly skilled w/photoshop please PM me.

Update: Going to get a new system for this case. Planned system specs:
DFI 680i SLI LT T2R/G
Intel Q6600
Patriot eXtreme 4Gb (2x2Gb) DDR2-800
eVga 8800GTX
Creative X-FI XtremeGamer
Black Ice GT Stealth 360 or Swiftech MCR-320
LIANG D5 / Swiftech MCP-655
DangerDen TDX
DangerDen Maze 4 i875 (on Northbridge)
DangerDen Maze 4 680i (on Southbridge)
EK-waterblocks or DangerDen Full-cover 8800GTX block

I'm still waiting on a few case parts but I'll probably get started on the cutting this weekend.

I've got some similar ones on their way from China and they're also a lot less expensive (~3.25 ea).

Going to use a blue ring-illuminated for the power switch, red dot-illuminated for the CD eject/activity, and several latching dot-illuminated pushbuttons to control the case lighting.

I spent last night and today working on the motherboard panel.

Sketched panel in Pro/E

Masked the Acrylic sheet and marked the locations for the MB standoffs, RAD, and Front-panel port mounts.

With old MB to verify markings

Drilled pilot holes

Cutting the fan/RAD holes

Finished fan/Rad holes

Drilled out holes to secure the RAD

Illustration of MB standoff mounting

Drilled out and threaded holes for MB standoffs and FPIO mount

Unmasked panel

Mounting of FPIO

Added slots for cable pass-through. All cabling will be routed underneath the MB panel

Test fit of my current MB and FPIO ports

I don't have the new RAD/fans yet so I couldn't test fit those.

If anyone would like to see other detail shots/angles please LMK

Nice craftsmanship. radodrill, both on the layout and execution of that panel!

Looks like that Dremel circle cutter attachment does a good job.

Thanks smile.gif smile.gif

Drilled a 1/8" center hole, which provided a nice snug fit for the guide pin. Just had to do a bit of sanding where I finished the cut.

looks awesome.

I love acrylic cases, but i hate LEDs. Id add UV reactive coolant to the WCer and then with some lighting the DFI board and coolant would light up nicely biggrin.gif

just a suggestion ohmy.gif

keep up the good work and keep the pics coming

Definitely going to use UV CCFLs (maybe red as well) and UV coolant. Only LEDs are going to be in the FP switches and maybe the fans. Also going to sleeve the cabling for the FPIO to make it UV reactive as well.

More pics will be uploaded as I make more progress on the case.

Today I started working on the drive Bays:

Laid out the parts on the masked acrylic:

The cut out panels:

Threaded side panels for drive retention mechanism (will into detail on that later):

Cut drive support rails:

Unmasked 5 1/4 bay panels:

Unmasked 3 1/2 bay panels:

I have to wait on an order from US Plastics before I can glue these parts together.

Minor update:
Been busy with work the past few days and haven't gotten much done on the case. The good news is that DangerDen is on board to sponsor the Liquid cooling aspect of this case build

Only the drive bays will be glued together (and glued to the front panel as well). The rest of the case will be screwed together using 1" Acrylic cubes (I'll be posting pics of them later today).
radodrill
Today I received the 1" Acrylic cubes that I'll use to assemble the main panels of the case

Drilled/Tapped the cubes so that I could screw on the panels

Closeup of one cube

Next I polished the parts for the 3.5" drive bay

looks top notch so far radodrill. a sponsor from dangerden to nice1, they must be liking what uve done so far aswell.

i wish i had proper tools like u seem to have, just for my normal ish builds. im always having to use the wrong tool as ive go no choice.
everything takes longer than it should or just not as well as it could be done.

going back to ure build rado, u said before u were looking for sumthing to use for case feet. hav u thought about using wheels instead of feet, that case will end up pritty dame heavy when finished then add ure h20 & pc kit. i can feel the back pain already wink.gif

THX; DangerDen is a Great company and I'm glad they're on board.

Yeah; good tools make a big difference. I've got mostly Bosch tools; so far I've only needed my drill, dremel, jigsaw, and bench grinder (with a polishing/buffing wheel). Gonna pull out my router for the outside corners smile.gif

I'm thinking of using the Sunbeam acrylic LED illuminated case feet; don't want some generic casters on the bottom. If weight turns out to be an issue; I'll just build a rolling base for it to sit on.

Sweet design, subscribed. wink.gif

good project you got going there. make sure to add some wheels or atleast have the chassis above the ground for better circulation.

Gonna put some LED illuminated feet on it; I really have to leave an air gap between the case and the floor since the air intake is on the bottom.

Finished the 3 1/2" drive bays

Drive retention mechanism; screws on one side with nylon spacers on the ends

Top notch clean cut work. Very excellent. I think it reflects on your Engineering background, attention to perfect detail. You dont know how I have waited and anticipated you posting those pictures. I have subscribed to this thread from the very beginning. I cant wait to see the final product, cheers to you man.:beer:beer:beer

Thanks!!! Yeah; I'm picky about details when it comes to this sort of stuff. I'll be ggetting some parts to make my own PWM fan controllers as well; I just hope I get my switches soon.

Now that the panels are cut out I'll be adding the rear IO, FPIO, Fill-ports, etc. Once everything is cut/drilled I'll round the outside coners and polish everything before final assembly.

I'm still waiting for responses regarding sponsors for the hardware; hopefully some will come through.

At least I took a class in Pro/E this summer; Sketchup seems to be primitive in comparison (never really tried it though).

I'm using Polycarbonate Cement SC-325 available from US Plastics.

I use a bottle w/ a 25 Ga needle to apply it ("plasticator"); just clamp the parts together, and apply it at the seam.
