heres some pics of my newest case project. Finally I get to build something for me smile.gif

It will have 4x freezone coolits in a loop to cool my quad. 3x dual micro rads to cool whatever. they will have 3 separate pumps and loops to cool vidcards,NB, etc. I decided to build from aluminum. Went out and bought some bench tools, band saw, drill press, etc and now that I have been working with aluminum I will never go back to acrylic. The mobo plate/shelf and back plate is a premod from mountain mods. I trimmed it and cut it down to my needs. All other parts except case shell, which was bend from sheet per my specs by a local shop, are fabricated by me. The coolit's are stripped of all unnecessary shiz like board and temp sensor, etc. I decided to go this way because I can later split them into any config I choose. I bought them online from folks for around 150 a piece and one for 190. later I will try my shot at making a fibreglass cover for the whole thing. all coolit's and cooling, lights, etc will be powered by an external thermaltake 550 watt PSU modified to my needs. Inside nestled between the coolit's will be a 850 watt galaxy PSU that will be dedicated to mobo, CPU,Vid cards and essentials. I plan on getting a thin line external DVD rw to go with it. I have lots of ideas for the finish product but nothing I want to share right now.

O M G...

Thats some crazy ass water cooling you got there...can't wait to see it done.

thats awesome. I wanna see more close ups of this with tubes and mobo!! How thick is the aluminum that you used? And are you bolting only or also using rivets?
MsB
Ill post more tommorrow as I'm gonna work all day on it. I dont use rivets if I can help it. screws and small bolts and nuts with a tadbit of locktight. not sure what thickness it is Ill check into it. come to think of it Ive been needing to get a new caliper. smile.gif its thin though. very strong when bent into a box with tabs. I wanna say 8mill but Im tired and will look at the recipt. I tend to just go by look and feel. like " hmm Ill take it made from that sheet thickness"
I get all other stock like angle and box tube at lowes its right around the corner or if I need something irregular, I go the metal super markets. Just finished a main support box tube that supports the mobo plate. all wires will run thru it out of site.

Wow, nice job! Are you planning on covering this or is it an open tech bench? t_ski has a Techstation on the cheap, but if this is one it blows all ours out teh water! ;p

Dang I ended up having to work today and just got home so I didnt get any further. I will post more this week. as to having too much money, You can never have too much money and too having too much time, LOL this is the first case I have built for myself in a year. I have been building custom cases for friends and I run my own bussiness so time is a thing I don't have enough of and life is too short to play it safe just putting together WC'ed systems thats old hat. tongue.gif :beer biggrin.gif dinner time!

Ok well tonight I decided to hook up the new 2 freezones to my already existing 2 on my antec case and after hours of bleeding and some fiddling and Im convinced that after I get my new ballistix ddr2 8500x 4gigs this week I will get this baby up to 3.6 and hopefully higher. Right now Im using a danger den ddc pump to run these things and thats a total of 8 blocks running thru 1/4" tubing so Im sure I need more powerful pump to really get temps down and it needs some more bleeding and insulating. hers my first results keep in mind its vista 64 and memory is 4 gigs of ddr 800 so its being held back by the memory.

A bit confused here. Are you running a seperate WC'ing and coolit units?
or did you mod the coolit units? Would really like to see some pics of how your coolit units are setup.

Ditto; how'd you implement the freezones?
MsB
stripped them of logic boards and wired them direct. they are all on one loop together. thats a totol of about 10 ft of 1/4" and 3/8" tubing and 8 cooling blocks and one cpu block (DD-TDX). So far @ 3.4 ghz and idles at around 15c and max temp so far at that speed so far was 38c with 2 folding cores and
super pi running 32m. Ill take a pic when I get home but its a patch together job so I dont know if you can make heads or tails of it. it needs 2 pumps at opposite ends of the loop to get the flow I need to make the tdx work effeciently. Im sure with a tweekable PS I can and proper setup I can get her down to at least 7c cooler. Thats pretty nice for quad and isnt dependent on room temps like wcing. of course my vid card is wc'ed on a separate loop.
CPDMF
I think she's using the Freezones as a chiller unit. Correct me if I'm wrong MsB.
ooeric
arent your lines getting condensations running at 15c? lol
its pretty damn hot nowadays
MsB
I nsulate the lines with refrigeration insulating tape. here Ill post a pic since my appt called and cancelled. give me a few minutes
MsB
Its a freakin mess but its just for trials.

CPDMF
That one will take a little while to get sorted out when you move it to your new case.

It looks like there is enough room if you get rid of the freezones to install a nice single stage phase.
Raiderfan001
At stock I can get mine to idle at 5C with no condensation.
MsB
honestly its all relative when it comes to mobos. My other mobo(icfx trg) with 2 freezyz said it was running at 3-5c and then my p5ne-sli said 2 freezys were getting 20c so I cant really tell exactly, every mobo says someting diff and I dont have proper temp prob yet to really see. I'd bet its much colder because my lines will condesate badly and very cold to touch like close to icey feely. When I get the rig setup proper I will see if I can muster up some proper equipment to really tell the temp at core.
Is yours a quad Raiderfan? THats a nice temp. but at 5c thats 41F and I have to wonder if your mobos reporting right because that cool enough to cause a lot of condesation unless you live somewhere where your room is always very cold. whatever the case My mission is to bring temps at load to no more than 5c. I may be taking one apart and replacing teks to upgrade capability since the sinks seem to take the heat away with normal fan with out probs I think they can handle a lot more or, I may take one and hook it up and test it under load while slowely bring the voltages up around 10% . Well see how high I can OC a freezy LOL.
Raiderfan001
No the E4300 is one of the lower end dual cores. The Freezones have a built in regulator to prevent condensation so if it gets too cold I think it lets it warm up a bit. I'm not really sure how it works but that is what I have read about it. For me my temps really depend on the ambiant temp. In my room with really crappy ambiants it will idle at about 25-30C. But take it to my friends house with really good ambiant temps and it will idle 5-7 C no problem. I read my temps with Core Temp btw.

:DWell I have been busy and gave my extra rig away to my bro cause he needed one so I have been waiting for july 22 for G0 series to hit so I can get an extra compy together and take my current setup apart and start to assemble This new one. I have some stuff to share though. I am getting a meanwell PS for the teks and pumps and plan on getting one that I can adjust the voltage up for some extra cooling power. Im still experimenting with these things and I definately need an extra pump in the loop and also Im going to include a heavy old copper thermaltake water block from an ancient thermaltake system. Im going to lap it good and try it. The DD tdx Block I have on there right now is made for more flow and theres no way to get it with 1/4" tubing so I need something that will absorb a lot of heat when it spikes and theres nothing like a half pound of copper to do that. I also plan to get 4x 80 watt teks form DD and take one of these units apart and see if I can tim taylor the hell out it. I have some ideas about these freezones that I cant share now but I will when I can get the power supplies Im ordering this week and have another comp so I can break all this down and have at the parts. I think theres a lot of room to up the voltage on these things and improve performance and I intend to break it if I have to, to prove it biggrin.gif anyways made a little progress on the case.
Got the side braces and top braces in and mounted a couple antec fans just to see how they will work. note the holes in back of case that are for running wires thru my bracing bars to the back of case. I also used some mountain mods acrylic cubes that are predrilled on top bars. they worked like a charm.

the pic of them in place isnt very good but I think you can get the idea.

Got My new P5k vm and E2160 yesterday and now have a nice new office rig running at 3ghz with a 333 fsb and 2 gigs ballistic pc8500 tracer @ 1066.I think the cheap ass psu in the qpack is holding my fsb down. I love it. Mobo and cpu for just at 200 bucks! so I now have a backup and can tear into my main rig and get this case done. I will posting results and pics off and on now for a while. I ordered one of these. http://www.power-factor-1st.com/shop/enclo...ries/s-320.html I have the 13.5 coming so I can adjust the voltage from 12 to 15 volts. But I wont get it till around Aug 5th. Hopefully theres a lot of headroom for these teks and I can get them up to 15 v and maybe get another 10-15% increase in performance from the freezones in combo.. I'm ordering one of these today, http://www.circuitspecialists.com/prod.itml/icOid/9079
I've been needing one bad. When you like to tinker like me its a necessity. I can take one of these freezones to failure if need be to see what they can really do. I love breaking shit as much as I do fixing/improving it .
ReelFiles
Very ambitious with great results so far, keep up the good work. What are the final dimensions of the case going to be? Might wanna look into one of these MozartTx's, there's a ton of modding potential in 'em.
MsB
Well I got the meanwell yesterday and hooked all the teks on the freezones up to it and started it up and and right off the bat after setting it to 12 v I saw an immediate drop in the idle temp by a degree. I guess its because the meanwell supplys a more stable constant voltage than a pair of old pc PSU's. Anywho, I took it up in increments to 16v proper. MY idle temps at 3.2ghz 470 fsb was 14-15c before, after the voltage increase my idle went down to 10c. Now thats a nice little drop and it seems the idle is far harder to bring down than the load temps and this where more volts really shines. My load temps while running F@H smp client at 98 % was 37-40c@ 3.2ghz, now its 25c. I have now raised the fsb to 490x7 and upped the cpu v to 1.425 as it was 1.40. Its running @3.44ghz now and the load temp after a while is only 28c where before when I tired to run it this fast it would run for an hour then shut down and get to 47c . heres a screeny of it now under F@H load.

So I know I'm not showing a bunch of photos with every step as proof but I just don't have time. As you can see I have achieved around 18-20c drop in load temps by just upping the volts to 16v. I'm sure if I had a 16 volt meanwell These could take some more and I didnt get the variable bench PSU yet . I would definately have to put more powerful fans on the freezones though as they are running very warm. I'm sure though that with the new case and proper isolation and the newly resurected and lapped thermaltake block and after lapping this b3 I will see even better results @ 16v, especially on the idle temps. Chow for now this weekend I will be taking this crap pile apart and getting everything into the new case.
ReelFiles
Looking good, keep us updated.
MsB
I have been working the past couple days on this thing and am posting from it now. I will post a bunch on it this weekend. I promise. I haven't had a second computer to post so I have been without for days. I had one but all of a sudden I have a Son in my life again and he like computers so all my extra parts and my antec case went to him last weekend. It sucks not having a computer but having my Son in my life again after 15 years is worth 100 of em. Anyways this weekend I promise, more pics and updates.
ReelFiles
Congrats, I was without my dad for almost 15 years, but now we don't talk again, cherish every moment of it. Are you running the SMP client in that screenshot? I was having major trouble getting it to work right on Vista, but now it's ok on XP.
MsB
yes it is vista, you have to have a password protected logon to windows and put that logon in to the setup of smp.
catkicker
Great to hear about your son. As a father of 3, 2 boys and a girl, I will tell you it's very difficult sometimes, but well worth it.smile.gif

I'm hoping with the modifications to my coolit unit It will supply cooling for my eventual upgrade to intel core duo, (quad did somebody say quad)
ReelFiles
Bump, whatever happened with that fine mess of yours?
dr_bowtie
I aint sure man but I think you need another cooling loop just to cool the pumps and freezits
MsB
LOL actually I have been very side tracked lately and the mess is settin right here next to me. I just recieved the PS that will take my freezits to 18v today and I was just about to try it out. Ill post some pics tommorrow . This is gonna be an on going build Im afraid as Im just too busy to just get in and finish it. Im thinking of adding two more to the loop. haha just cause I can! hehe I saw two on forums at the right price wink.gif but lets see what 18+ volts will do. Right now they are @ 16.21 Volts and it idles around 14c and load is 27-29c. Ill post back later tonight.
MsB
ok after the voltage increase I gained another few degrees cooler. However, the the heat they are putting off is very high and I need to get fans that produce more cfm because I think that they are holding the freezones back a bit at this point. I don't think that enough heat is being removed and its causing it to run hotter. Im ordering some 110 cfm fans today and Im gonna get a another freezone to put in the loop. 1 freezone per core right now and my stats are about the same or near that of catkicker running a freezone at higher voltage on a single core. So one more should hopefully put me over the top and cause temps to go down even further. This is a B0 stepping and its very hot and with newer, lower power procs coming Im sure this thing will perform much better with say, a penryn. So I think that 5 freezones will be the limit. Ill post pics later when the sun isnt so bright in here. For now temps are as follows 10c @ idle and25c at load with the proc @ 470x7 for 3.290mghz and 1.38v cpu core. This core is kind of a chump. It leaks bad above 1.4v and doesn't want oc anymore @ stable. I'd love to try a nice G0 step on it.
catkicker
5 freezones :eek2: LOL. Will one mean well power all of them? I'm thinking my one unit will do fine for a DC opteron. At this point I'm happy with the performance I'm getting from the DC opteron and my 7950GX2 With the freezone
I may hit 3GHz. on the 165 opteron.
MsB
yeah one will work ok. I bought a used one from likewhoa thats rated at 480 watts should do the job nicely.
