I origianlly posted this in the mother board thread:eek: My current power supply is not going to cut it any more. Just plugged in a HIS X1950Pro 512MB AGP card. Failed power supply was an old Allied AL-B450E. Knowing that the -5V rail has gone away on the newer beefier supplies, need to know what will fire up my AV8 mobo and run that power hungry agp card.
System:
Motherboard - Abit AV8
Memory - 2x 1Gb corsair TWINX1024CL2
VGA card - HIS X1950Pro 512MB AGP
Processor - AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
HDD - 2 WD 74Gb Raptors in Raid 0
CD burner - iOmega 52x24x52
DVD burner - iOmega 16x
This rig has lasted me for a long time. When the ATi 9600Pro died, I needed a replacement. Not ready to give up on my 939 / AGP rig. Help! I have RMA'd one psu back to newegg already. The Enermax in the closet is a 480W Noisetaker. For some odd reason that supply won't even fire-up my Socket A rig. Are these two boards in need of an older version psu that actually has a -5V rail? I am beginning to miss that little white wire:sad:
