Hey guys.

I my old motherboard, an ASUS A8V Deluxe, and the power supply for it, an Antec TP II 430, died, in fact, I tested the supply as possibly being the reason for the failure.

I have an AMD Athlon 64 4800 Toledo and A pair of Team Xtreem Cronus Micron 5B-F DDR-500 2 x 1GB RAM.

I will be getting a new DFI Lanparty board, probably the UT nF4 SLI-DR to rebuild the system and when I get my warranty replacement parts I will sell them hopefully.

But here is the thing:

I want a supply that won't fail and fry my system again if possible, that will work with the DFI Lanparty motherboard in SLI but in the future support a quad core Core 2 based system in SLI with DX-10 cards, fairly good ones such as maybe even the 8800 series.

I am not aware of what the minimum, amp rating to support 8800 video cards is, do any of you know?

These are the supplies I am looking at, sorry it is a long list, but this is an important decision for me:

As you can see, they go up in price, but are the expensive ones worth it or even necessary?

Sorry to ask you all to look at so many of them, but this is such a hard choice...

Signature made, but will need to be updated upon build as system doesn't really exist right now as it was torn down due to fried supply and system board.

I hope some of you might offer opinions of those supplies if you don't mind taking the time. I do know it will take some time, sorry about that...

signmeuptoo, darn I hate the way you did that and you are not the only one who does it. I would have to open up everyone of those blasted links to see what you are talking about. A little description would help.

Don't wish to be mean ....
signmeuptoo
I apologize, should I amend it and copy and past the name of each? The thing is if I do that people might not look at the specs of each. I sure didn't want to irritate you...
Syngensmyth
LOL, don't worry about me. Actually I was just trying to help. I think you would get better response. You have the best of the best looking at it and responding right now anyway. (apparently they had time on their hands to open all those links:))

If you wanted, you could just edit your post and add the descriptions ... only if you want to ... no big deal.

Best of luck with that project.

Here is my "Short List" from EOC: http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/show...6&postcount=188

Please note that high-performance DFI mobos work best with DFI certified/recommended PSU's,
so please see the official DFI-Street PSU Guide for DFI mobos.

Dave's Short PSU List
(webstien)
I had to make this

As you will see all PSU's recommended for highend systems are Single +12V Rail PSU's.

This has now become necessary for several reasons:

PSU manufactures are now assigning the rails on their multi-rail (3 or more +12V rails) PSU's in whatever fashion pleases them.

Motherboard manufacturers are now requiring additional power connectors, beyond the standard ATX & P4/EPS connectors.

Sometimes the interaction of these unique rail assignments & additional power connectors results in mobo/PSU incompatibility.

All of these problems are of course caused by the ever higher power demands of ever more powerful GPU's.

Most Dual +12V Rail PSU's are not effected as one rail "should always" used exclusively to power the CPU via the P4/EPS connector, however Dual Rail PSU's that follow the specs can not power highend SLI systems.

Therefore all PSU's recommended for highend systems now need to be Single +12V Rail PSU's.

Please note that the Seasonic built Corsairs & Antecs (HE & Trio) are, regardless of advertising,
Single +12V Rail PSU's, in that there is no per-rail current limiting, meaning that any +12V rail can pull whatever +12V amperage is available. This is also true of the Seasonic M-12's.
The Corsairs are built to higher standards than the Antecs.

Well, if I can scare up the change I am getting the PCP&C Silencer 750 I think. Only thing it lacks is a Power supply fan wire and a second floppy connector for the motherboard, but that is easy enough to solve with an adapter...

Do any of you have the PCP&C Silencer 750 Copper? Is the non copper any different? Why does it have only 3 years warranty when some other models have 5?
