A friend of mine has no internet until week 12, so I thought I'd send him an e4300/e6300 and a new mobo (ASRock DualVSTA775 or something, the one with AGP and DDR1) to cheer him up a bit.
However i have no clue what kind of power supply he needs to run this setup.
What he has no is a P4 2.8GHz (s478) and a noname mobo that (according to him) he bought for 20 Euro brand new and causes his PC to reboot twice a day for no reason:p , a 6800gt, 1 or 2 harddrives (definately not more than 3, as I have 10 and he calls me a sick bastard/mtf:shake: ) and a DVD-RW. Oh, and 2x512mb memory sticks.
I guess he has either a 350w or a 400w, seems to be pretty standard. Is this enough (if it's no Qtec of course:p )?

Not knowing what the rest of the rig is and in my opinion some good choices are;
OCZ 600w GameXStream
CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX
Getting a quality PSU is the most important thing and a 500W or better will do nicely.
Stick with one from this thread;

Without needing power for highend gaming GPU(s),
a $40 XCilo 450W, Fortron/Sparkle 450W or $50 XCilo GoodPower 500W would be fine. :beer

Thumbs up to sparkle.
They are noisy - even noisier than the OCZ GXS series, by a fair margin, and they are noisy as it is, but the price/quality ratio is awesome. I like mine as it is not being used in a system where noise is an issue.
It's rated at 30c and 50c on the side, 50c @ 500, and 30c at 550, and it was advertised as a 500. That means something to me, as a consumer of PSUs, and it should to other consumers of PSUs as well.
