Do to a saftey violation at work I received a unpaid vacation 9 days off. So what do you do when it snowing and raining freezing rain outside? You click on the remove you IHS video Travis did and start cutting. when finished you have a naked 148 Opteron. Then you have a smoke and surf the internet:)

I operate overhead and mobile cranes in a steel mill. Steel mills are inheritently
dangerous places, so they have a shitload of saftey rules. they have the
BIG 5 these are called general saftey orders, violating one of those can get you a 30 day suspension and even banned from the mill for life. I violated GSO:3 which is making sure that when working near R/R tracks, you must disable the tracks so that there can be no train movement in the area your working in. The saftey crew for the company I was doing a lift for did not disable the R/R tracks before escorting me and my 40ton mobile crane into the building. As we were finishing the job, one of the steel mills big time saftey guys showed up and all hell broke loose. I ended up with a 9 working days suspension.

Now could I blame it on the saftey guys who did not do there job? yes I could. however Saftey is every single persons responsability. I blew it by not making sure they followed proper saftey guidelines. I'm very lucky that it's only 9 days off and that I still have a job.

I am happy to hear that you did not lose your job but I wonder if the other people got a suspension too?

Well i'm short a PCIex VC. and with the current no work it will be next month before I go shopping for a VC. Ofcourse my wifes computer has a X800XL PCIex. video card in it. Hmmm. I migh just borrow it for a few hours so we can see what it will do.

Now that sounds reasonable. I wish more employers were like that and didn't just go firing people over having a bad dream. But anyway, I'm sorry you got a suspension, I hope you have better luck in the future.

Nice job on the IHS removal.

All in all removing the IHS was not hard at all. However I did bend a few pins,
it was fairly easy to straighten the pens. I have been building up the nerve to do this since Angry did the IHS video tutorial. With the risk involved in this.
you have to ask yourself the question.
Can I afford to trash this processor.
