Soldering a "bridge" across them should work; however, you may end up frying the chipset in the process.
IMO you'd be better off using a tracer-pen instead of solder.

Yes actually i did mod my Ultra-D to SLI, Id really be hesitant to use solder unless you know what you are doing (aka certifed). Radio Shack sells conductive ink pens for like $8, and any #2 pencil will work just fine. Make sure you remove the epoxy with a fine razor or Xacto knife (the bridges you need to short are in the same place as the pic's in the tut, but have a dab of epoxy on them). Or if you want Id be more than happy to make arrangments to help you in person, your call, and your gas

The tutorial shows which contacts have to be shorted;
(ExRoadie)
From Mod the Ultra-D to SLI-D Picture Tutorial

Use a #2 pencil (or
electronics tracer pen) to short-circuit these two contacts.
Jumping these with solder could result in melting the PCB so this is not recommended.

i am an experienced solderer, and i can safely say USE A 15 WATT SOLDERING IRON and only do it the soldering way if u got the balls, no balls, no solder, may sound cruel lol but its how it is

Yup, MAX 15W IRON is the keyword; but still risky.
Unless you want to chance frying your MB, stick with a conductive pen:cool: .

Why bother when a pencel works? All the info is in the sticke.

It sounds to me, no offense, but from your first post it sounds to me like you're not the most experienced at things like this. I would not recommend a mod like this to someone who is inexperienced unless they have a natural affinity for the type of work involved. It's your choice of course. I definitely would not solder it though, as you need a great deal of skill for that and it still might screw up. the #2 pencil or conductive pen will work fine.

Change the Jumpers on the two PCI-E GFX slots to the lower position aka 8x slot. That should enable the SLI settings after the mod.
